This week marks the beginning of a LOT of travel for me this month. From NYC (just landed yesterday!) to Paris, Greece and then ending it all in Austin. Yesterday I got to the Big Apple for fashion week for a few days (you can catch all the fun already on Instagram!). I’m excited to be experiencing fashion week in September as my first go around was during the coldest week NYC has had in a while back in February. It was still an incredible experience and I got to see the late Bill Cunningham (who actually snapped Cathy and mines’ photo, totally testing light I’m sure) and Anna Wintour. I feel like that is all a fashion girl could ever want.
When I think about NYFW in September, it signifies the beginning of fall to me. Even though all the clothes on the runway are for spring, it’s fall in NYC. Plus, I like to embrace the new season! To transition easily from summer to fall, I like to slowly incorporate some of my new fall finds slowly. I like to add these to my usual summer uniform. My usual summer uniform includes shorts, sandals and an easy top. But when thinking of how to wear shorts in the fall, this is usually how I like to do it. Swapping out sandals for these AMAZING Steve Madden cut out booties is the perfect way to give a nod to the new season. I did a similar look last year right here in the cutest little boho top. A few other tips on how to wear shorts in the fall is to add in fall hues and textures. An eyelet top with shorts just wouldn’t work. But a crisp button down, or a short sleeve sweater makes shorts feel seasonably appropriate.
