I’ve decided to forego Friday Furnishings today and for good reason. This evening I set out for a 10 day trip with one of my girlfriends and I’m beyond excited. She called me a few weeks ago while I was in a bit of a lonely rut (working for yourself, from home, all the time can get to you), and asked “I’ll be in Germany for work and want to maybe extend” I cut her off right there and said, yeah where are we going? She caught me on a good day for booking a random trip and here we are heading out for 10 super fun days.
I’ll be meeting her in Paris first since she’s never been, and my past Paris experience wasn’t all that great. I was only there for less than 48 hours and 75% of that time was spent sleeping. We will only be there for a little over 2 days and I still plan to come back sometime with Cathy as we’ve talked about it a bunch before. I want to really explore the neighborhoods away from the tourists and maybe see the Champagne region. But we’ll just be seeing the usual sites this go around which is fine with me! Croissants are calling my name already!
After that, we head to Santorini for 4 days, then Athens for a little less than 48 hours. I’ve always wanted to go to Greece and my friend Kristin of Living In Color Print has been TWICE this summer and it’s probably the reason why it’s on my mind so much lately. I’m glad to be checking this off the bucket list and get to see the islands and all the white and blue as far as the eye can see. On our way back we opted for the 8 hour layover in Amsterdam. Well partially because it was a heck of a lot cheaper, but also because, why not? I wouldn’t mind seeing a new country even if it’s just for a few hours. I hear it’s really the best way to do it because it’s 8 solid hours and the 20 minute train ride takes you right into the middle of the city. A good friend of mine is also Dutch and has already given me a ton of recommendations to fill those 8 hours so I think we’ll be plenty busy!
Last but not least, when I get back, I’ll have maybe 48 hours to get my shit together before heading out to Austin. I’ve never been and at the beginning of 2016 I wrote down a list of places I wanted to visit and this was one of them. I still haven’t been to Denver or Boston which are on the list so I’ll add those to 2017 since you know, I’m clearly making up for it with this whirlwind of a month. Turns out there’s a big music festival in Austin every year and some of my friends decided to make a fun trip out of it so this was a great way to check it off. I don’t necessarily care a TON about the festival (just want to see Chainsmokers and Flume) so I plan to explore the city a bit even if it’s solo. I hear the food is amazing and that there’s lots of great food trucks.
I’d love to hear any recommendations you have for any of these spots I’m heading to. And be sure to follow all the fun on my Instagram and Instagram Stories @mystylevita.
