No matter where you live, I think you can 100% rock this leather shorts trend. But living in Atlanta, or any mild winter climate, leather shorts can be a closet taple for you this time of yera.
Adding leather shorts to your wardrobe for winter is a cool and edgy update to your denim or mini dresses. And I’m finding they’re more versatile than I thought!
They can be dressed up to feel sophisticated, sexy and edgy. Or dressed down to feel cool and casual perfect for everyday.
With the right styling, you can rock leather shorts in the winter with confidence. And not to worry, staying warm in shorts is never an issue thanks to fleece lined tights and good layers, long coats, and boots.
5 Leather Shorts Outfits For Winter
Is It Fashionable To Wear Leather Shorts In Winter
I think we tend to think shorts aren’t for winter. But when done in the right fabric, and styled appropriately for the season, you can 100% wear leather shorts in the cooler months. This is especially convenient for those of us living in more mild climates.
But even so, you can wear your leather shorts with fleece-lined tights, your favorite knee high boots, and a good chunky sweater even if it’s cold out.
All things that keep you nice and warm. Shorts let you show off all those cute knee high boots sitting in your closet too.
They pair perfectly with leather shorts. You can even add a patterned tight if your legs are feeling a little blah from the lack of sunshine. So trust me, yes, you can totally wear leather shorts in the winter, and here are a few of my favorite ways to do it.
Leather Shorts With Riding Boots
For a cool and edgy combination, try pairing your lug-sole knee-high boots, or riding boots, with your leather shorts. This feels really edgy and casual, but still, very much put together and fashionable.
If the weather gets any cooler and you need another layer, I just add a pair of tights to warm me up. This is also a great winter transition outfit to take you from fall to winter, or winter to spring.
Tailored In A Wool Blazer With Tights And Booties
This combination is great if you want to feel a little more dressed up. Maybe heading out to dinner with friends, or a date, adding a sheer tight and structured blazer is perfect. Finish off the look with a cute ankle bootie or closed toe pump or heel.
I saw this combination all over Paris this past fall too. You can make this a little less dressed up by just swapping the heel for a flat boot or chunky loafer.
Try A Different Color of Leather
Sai is making the case for trying non-black leather shorts for winter. I am loving this tan set layered up for fall and winter.
Sure, you’ll need tights for those cold days. But she actually is layering a shirt with a twill jacket of sorts, and a leather vest.
Lots of great layers, prints and textures. And you can even try a different length of leather shorts! Sai has also styled the Bermuda length leather short before and I just love it. It’s very fashion forward and different.
Casual Everyday Leather Shorts With Combat Boots And A Long Coat
This is how I plan to style leather shorts next for winter. Paired with a flat combat boot like a pair of Dr Martens, and a long camel coat.
I love the camel and tan combination with the black. But the grey and black are also perfect for wintery days. Choose a really long coat to make this style feel fashion-forward.
Style With Knee High Heeled Boots For A Dressy Look
I love grabbing my leather shorts to dress them up for a night out on the town. Just add your favorite high heeled knee high boots to the look and you’re set.
For a finishing touch try a nice blazer. This can go more casual if you want, or dressier. Just depends on the fit and fabric. And if it’s chilly out, try a really great long coat like I did here in this black and brown combination.
So don’t overlook a great pair of shorts for fall and winter. They are the perfect alternative to your skirts. For more shorts outfits to inspire you for any season, check out these great outfit ideas!
