I found myself standing at the top of a hill in Montmartre looking at the photogenic pink and green restaurant, La Maison Rose. While standing there I was wearing my new leopard jeans, a trench coat and my go-to adidas Gazelles. I thought nothing of my outfit. It’s on trend, it’s comfortable, I love it.
Then three women walked past me all in leopard pants. I just looked at them and then myself, and thought, do we look silly? Or are we just all really on trend?

The Jeans I Saw Everywhere In Paris
I think it’s funny when a trend is so bold and out there that you notice it a lot. There are so many people wearing straight leg jeans which are on trend right now, but never once did I look at myself and then someone else next to me wearing them thinking “we’re all wearing the same thing, is that weird”? But something about the boldness of wearing a straight up leopard pant had me wonder.
It made me feel like I was just a sheep following trends. But is that so bad?

I’m someone who enjoys trying new trends. Every season I get excited about the new things we’re seeing and if and how I’ll incorporate them into my own closet. I don’t think you have to jump onto every trend. And for the trends you do want to try, you should lean into the ones you feel most comfortable in.
Shopping Tip: Stick To Silhouettes You Already Love And Wear
Let’s use the leopard trend for example. While leopard is definitely a classic print, we’re seeing leopard pants, jackets, blazers, you name it, in this classic print. What was once used more so as a print in an accessory or maybe a sweater, is now a piece that may take up more real estate in your outfit.
Instead of just buying anything that’s leopard, I went with a silhouette that I feel good in. A looser straight leg jean. It easily incorporates into my closet with pieces I already own making it a seamless integration.

So really I’m just swapping out my go-to outfits that I wear with straight-leg jeans, for a leopard jean. Not a lot really changes! It makes trying trends easier and usually more affordable and sustainable since you don’t have to buy a ton to make it work.
While in Paris, it was clear that leopard is EVERYWHERE. I definitely saw it on the streets of Paris way more than I have in New York. From jackets, to all sorts of styles of pants, sweaters, shoes, I really don’t think there was a type of leopard clothing I didn’t see. But the leopard jeans were hands down the most common.
When thinking about how to style leopard pants, you really can’t go wrong. Treat them just like you would your favorite jeans! It’s a neutral and it goes with everything. This combination of an oversized button down and pops of red is probably my favorite combination for an easy everyday comfortable outfit.
