Having a great comfortable and versatile trainer shoe in your closet is a must if you ask me. When it comes to wardrobe basics, this is something I’d 100% recommend having.
A trainer shoe is just a sneaker or running shoe, whatever you want to call it. But they’re so stylish and versatile that you can style them with so much of your wardrobe.
They’re a fashion yes even if you may never take them for an actual jog. One of my favorite stores, Madewell, is not only my place to find great denim, dresses, sandals and bags. But also I’ve become a true fan of the Madewell Kickoff Trainer Sneakers.
Madewell Trainers Review
The Madewell Kickoff Trainers have been around for a while now and each season they come out with new print combos and fun prints. Plus, a few neutrals too in case a leopard or mint green sneaker isn’t your thing.
What makes these shoes so great is a combination of the fun stylish colors, the great fit and comfort. But also several great features and materials they choose to use in their sneakers. You may already own a pair of great boots from the fall, or sandals from summer.
But if you haven’t tried their Madewell Trainers, now’s the time. They’re a personal favorite and a sneaker I am reaching more and more for when getting dressed to head out the door.
Fit And Comfort
Let’s start off with the fit and comfort which is always the first thing people ask. How do they fit and are they comfortable? For the fit, they run true to size. The website does say to size up half a size if you have a wide foot which is pretty standard for any medium width shoe.
I’m typically an 8.5 in most sneakers and went with my usual size. The size run starts at a women’s 5 to a women’s 10.
As far as comfort goes, they’re pretty darn comfortable. They look clunky and heavy but when you put them on, they feel amazing. I can walk all day in them. I’d add these to my list of travel approved sneakers to bring with me on trips.
These sneakers have an ultra supportive and cushiony insole which is the MWL Cloudlift Insoles. And you can 100% tell a difference because it really does feel like you’re walking on clouds.
These sneakers didn’t really require any breaking in which I appreciate. My Vejas which I love, require serious breaking in. But the Madewell Kickoff Trainers were comfortable from the moment I laced them up.
Materials + Sustainability
This is a pretty standard leather sneaker in that they have a leather upper, rubber soles and cotton lining. Everything you can expect in a standard sneaker. But what I love the most is how much of the sneaker is sustainable.
From the eco-friendly practices of the leather factory that they source from, to the recycled mesh, recycled rubber and cotton lining. It always feels good knowing I’m buying a sneaker that’s sustainable.
Color Options
One of the most fun parts about this collection is how many fun color shoe options there are to choose from. If you want to go neutral, you’ve got options.
If you want earthy tones, you’ve got options. And if you want bold color blocked, you’ve got options. And each season there’s always something new to choose from.
Cute Outfits With Madewell Trainer
With A T-Shirt Dress
Whether it’s a sweater dress, or t-shirt dress, Madewell Trainer sneakers go perfectly with them for a sporty athleisure-inspired look.
Love how Kendi of Kendi Everyday added a denim jacket to her look to cinch the waist. My favorite trick! And no, this is not a pic of me, it is in fact Kendi. We’re just twins.
With Jeans And A Tee
I mean, you just can’t go wrong with jeans and a tee. It’s my favorite way to style a fun sneaker especially if you go for one of the more bold color combinations from the collection. I paired my colorblock Madewell Trainers with my go to perfect vintage straight leg jeans and a white 3/4 length tee.
With A Summer Cotton Midi Dress
I always love everything Camille of Charmed By Camille does when it comes to fashion. And pairing these neutral trainers with a neutral cotton midi dress for spring is just perfection.
The monochromatic look is just easy and so effortless. And proof that you can definitely add a chunkier sneaker to a feminine dress!
With A Utility Jumpsuit
Since these Madewell Kickoff Trainers have a neutral leopard print AND navy in them, they pair perfectly with a navy jumpsuit. They’d really go with any jumpsuit as I think it’s a must to pair a utility jumpsuit with a cool sneaker. It’s a great way to keep them super casual and street-style cool.
