I was recently perusing the internet as usual, and came across a roasted pear cocktail and knew I had to recreate something similar here on the blog. I’m a huge fan of pears and they’re currently coming into season right now. Bosc pears are my personal favorite and I just took a few and threw them in the oven with a little maple syrup and let them caramelize. Not only do they taste amazing once they’re done (about 30 minutes or so at 375) but your house smells heavenly with the aromas of the maple and fruit. It creates the perfect base for this cocktail after they’re all soft and warm. I mashed them up and stored them to easily grab in my fridge.
The flavors are warm and slightly sweet and you can not only use it here in this cocktail but also top your morning oatmeal with some of this goodness, or yogurt and granola and you’ll thank me later. For the cocktail all you need is a few spoonfuls of the mashed pears, little bourbon, touch more of maple syrup and squeeze of lemon to freshen it up, and you’re set. It’s a delicious combination of flavors that are unexpected, a tad sweet, and quite impressive.
