For the 5th Annual Blog Societies Conference, we teamed up with one of my all time favorite makeup brands, Mary Kay. You know I’m a big fan for years now ever since this event. That was the day I discovered that doing your brows was a game changer. Since that event, Cathy and I have been huge fans of the brand and always love partnering with Mary Kay. I also swear by several products that are part of my day to day routine like this concealer and this blush.
Last year for the first time ever, we had Mary Kay come in and do our makeup before each day of the conference. Not only was it nice to look our absolute best, but we got to try new products too. Oh it also helped that it was one less thing to stress about each day. We knew we had to have them come back again to make us look and feel our best. Oh and just wait until I tell you about the new products I discovered…
Mary Kay hooked us up with one amazing makeup artist in Chicago, Shannon. You can follow her here on Instagram, I’m 100% totally obsessed with her now by the way. For the first day, Cathy and I had some first day jitters and were sure to sip a celebratory (and personality cocktail as she likes to call it) to get us into the party mood. Shannon whipped out just about every single Mary Kay product known to man and was ready to get to work. We went for a subtle cat eye with shadow versus a liner, and a red lip to compliment my structured striped dress.
For this day’s look, she started with their CC cream. I love this product because it has just enough coverage to make you feel like you’ve got a face on, but it’s so creamy and light all at the same time. Instead of a bronzer, she used a slightly darker shade to contour my face. I thought this was so genius that I’ve started to do this at home! For my concealer, she used my go to that I swear by and use daily, the Mary Kay Perfecting Concealer. After a little eye makeup (seriously, someone teach me how to do my eye makeup) she fixed up my brows with their Brow Definer Pencil. I think I’m going to need to add this to my tool kit. This was a new to me product and I really loved the application and the look of it. She then made sure it all stayed in place with a little brow gel. Something I never use, until now. We received the brow gel in our Mary Kay swag bags at the conference and I’ve been using it ever since.
Lastly, we had to do a bold red lip. You’ve heard me rave about Mary Kay lipsticks here and oh yeah, here too. I was so excited to try some new colors. For this night, we went with the Mary Kay Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in Poppy Please. A few other colors I wore throughout the conference were also Powerful Pink and Always Apricot. The latter may be my favorite, it was a really great nude pink. I’ve never used their lip glosses before, but the day I wore the Always Apricot, we also added Fancy Nancy. I’m not usually a lip gloss person, but these may have just changed that.
