It’s that time of year when we decide to set some goals, or intentions, or even set a word for the year. I’m not someone who sets hardcore resolutions, but I do like to set some goals or mindsets for the year. Let’s dive into my goals for 2024.
2023 was a wild year for me. I spent a full month in NYC in the spring to test things out on a possible move. I had so much fun and enjoyed myself a little too much that I forgot to shop for apartments. I decided to come back and take it more seriously in the fall.
This entire year felt so much more anxious than I realized. The thought of moving to such an expensive city (truly it’s the cost of living alone that weighs on me, nothing else, I always knew NYC was right) weighed on me daily. I fell asleep to the thoughts, dreamt about it, and cried over the idea of leaving my apartment of 16 years and the only place that I have known as home as an adult.
I didn’t realize how all-consuming those thoughts were until November when I finally unpacked my bags in the perfect apartment that fell into my lap. Because when things are meant to be, they truly fall into place. Those thoughts have left me, except on the first of the month when I send in my rent check.
I’m excited for 2024 to be the year I make NYC home. For how long, I don’t know. But I think at least doing a year is what my soul needs. We’ll see how easy it is to leave this city that just feels like me.

A Look Back At My 2023 Goals
One of the main things I wanted to do in 2023 was spend another month somewhere after doing a month in Paris in 2022. I knew it would be NYC even back in 2022 as I booked it SO early. But I had no idea that it would result in ANOTHER month booked for all. And that 2023 would be the year I also moved to New York City.
I also wanted to consume less, and create more in 2023. While I feel like I did a good job of having a bit more fun with Reels and creating more off-the-cuff content and not overthinking things, I still consumed far too much content. So much so, that I am adding it again to my 2024 goals.
Living more minimally and finding more joy in the every day was something I feel like I did accomplish in 2023. I have started to look at activities like adventures and am leaning into trying new things. Or buying a ticket to go to a random show or concert, whatever it is, I’m down.
I am continuing to try to minimize all of the stuff in my life. I think moving to NYC helped in that as well. Only the most loved essentials came and that has been eye-opening as to what was left behind. And I think fine-tuning my personal style is also helping too.
So on that note, let’s dive into goals for 2024.
My 6 Goals For 2024
Network More Than I Ever Have Before
On my 2023 goal list was to build new relationships for my business. And in that section, I said how hard it is to do that in Atlanta and that it would mean more visits to NYC. I mean honestly, it’s impossible, the industry just isn’t in Atlanta and the networking opportunity is extremely limited.
Now that I’m in New York City more full-time, I have to take advantage of this opportunity for my business and my career. I am hoping to network with new brands, contacts, and also maybe expand what I do behind the scenes in the influencer world.
And on a personal note on that, I plan on saying YES to a lot. Meeting new friends, trying new things, and just putting myself out there more in a professional and personal way.
Create More, Consume Less
Adding this to my goals again this year until I get it right. I am a creator and I need to start acting like one. This has to be the year that I put a focus on creating new forms of content for my business. I’m excited about the ideas I have (and that I’ve honestly had on a list in Asana for YEARS now) and hoping 2024 is the year I create more.
I also think being in a city that has me getting dressed and out of the house way more will help. Creating content while walking down the street in NYC is content all on its own. And so this should be easier to tackle!
Make My NYC Apartment Feel Like Home
While the NYC apartment is not my permanent home, I still want to make it feel like mine. I am using Havenly to help me pull the apartment together and give it a fresh feel. I’m grateful that there’s some furniture already there so big purchases don’t need to be made.
Practice My French In New Ways
I am on day 550+ of my Duolingo streak for practicing French. But honestly, two minutes a day is not cutting it. I feel more confident in reading the language, but speaking and listening is still a struggle. This year I plan on taking a real in-person French class to truly flex those speaking and listening muscles.
As someone who lived in Montreal from the age of three to ten, French is in my brain somewhere and I would love to really practice and be more confident with the language. I have a trip to Paris in May to see Taylor Swift and I would love to be able to speak French the entire time I’m there!
Start Checking Off My NYC Bucket List
I have no idea how long I’ll be in NYC for. The goal? A lifetime. But I just have no idea and nothing is certain. I have to take advantage of being in The Big Apple and all it has to offer.
So I want to start checking off my NYC bucket list from trying all the best pizza spots, to knocking out all the museums and more. Drop your favorite NYC bucket list activity in the comments below!
Say Yes More
With me moving to a new city, and wanting to make new friends and try all the things, I plan on saying yes a lot this year. For many reasons. From just getting to experience new things and opportunities, to knowing that I’m the new kid in town and if I don’t say yes and get out there, I’ll probably quickly be forgotten.
Every year I like to make some goals. Nothing crazy, and no wild resolutions. Just more of a mindset. And a way for me to stay accountable is I plan to put my yearly goals into a monthly calendar reminder. A little check-in to make sure I’m doing these things.
I found myself making this blog post every year and never thinking about it again. Adding it to my monthly task kept it top of mind more. So here’s to a great year of saying yes, getting out there more, and soaking up as much NYC as I possibly can.
