One of the hottest trends we’re seeing for fall this year is sweater vests. Or shells, but I think I like the term vest better. They’re just sleeveless sweaters so I suppose you can just call them that too. You can wear them as is, or layer them over a button-down, and there are so many styles to choose from. You can opt for chunky cable knits, v-necks, scoops, turtlenecks, or nautical stripes. The options are endless this season.

My Favorite Sweater Vests For Fall
I was inspired to try out this trend, and this monochromatic cream outfit, when I saw this look. Felicia Akerstrom has quickly become a recent style muse and this is actually a look from 2019. Gasp. I know. But just goes to show you how long it takes for streetstyle outfits from fashion week to make it to mainstream fashion. And as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get a sweater vest of some sort.

Now let’s first get it out of the way that I’m a very picky sweater person. Didn’t want something too chunky and heavy, couldn’t be itchy AT ALL. Which basically means no wool, cashmere, alpaca, nothing. It all makes me itch. I randomly headed into an Evereve store and saw this cream sweater vest that was nice and light and in 100% cotton. Which I have now learned, is the only way I will wear a sweater. Must be cotton. I went with an extra small believe it or not. It either runs big, or was supposed to be oversized. Not entirely sure. But I found this to be a good fit for me. For reference, I’m usually a size small, or medium, in some brands. Never an extra small so definitely size down.
But now that this pretty little sweater is in my closet, I am eager to add some new ones to the mix. I think the sweater vest trend is so fun and easy. It’s also a nice way to wear sweaters when it’s still warm out making it a great transitional piece for your closet. Then once it gets a little cooler, layer it over a button up for a preppy take.
