A few weeks ago you may have seen on Snapchat or Facebook that I did a fun Facebook Live post with Ryan of COSMEDIX. We chatted all things skincare and how to take care of your skin while you travel. With so much travel in my schedule these days, it’s been really important to me to get into a good routine and really understand what I need to pack and what needs to stay home. Afterwards, I went in for a treatment with my aesthetician Miranda to get my skin back on track after being out of town for almost a month! You can check out our Facebook Live post here and keep scrolling for more information on why October is now National Aesthetician Month!
Do you have a good aesthetician that you see regularly? I find that a lot of my friends don’t and I think that’s pretty surprising. As we’re all pushing 30 over here, I think taking care of my skin has crept up to be one of the most important things to me. For someone who wears makeup, is a sun worshiper, and does a decent amount of tequila shots, my skincare routine is crucial to staying youthful looking.
COSMEDIX has officially dubbed October as National Aesthetician Month. This is in an effort to bring awareness to those skin care professionals who help make us not only look beautiful, but feel it too. They’re the first line of defense when you have any sort of skin care issue or concern.
I wasn’t super consistent about seeing an aesthetician until the last year or so. Just like you see a hair stylist every 6-8 weeks and you swear by them, that’s how I now feel about my aesthetician, Miranda, at WIFH in Dunwoody. Since I visit her every so often, she’s able to see the progress in my skin as well as any changes and make tailored recommendations to make sure I’m getting the best out of my skincare routine. Seeing someone regularly you’ll definitely begin to see a change in the texture and clarity of your skin. Miranda recommends seeing an aesthetician at least once a season to start with.
In addition to having an aesthetician in your back pocket, I think it’s important to make the switch from drugstore skincare to higher quality ones. I’ve noticed a huge change in my skin once I updated my products to COSMEDIX (you can see my daily, nightly routine here). Quality ingredients and formulas are key to seeing a change. To give you a really great example of how my skin has changed, I usually break out heavily when it becomes hot and sweaty outside. While in Greece, the last few days my skin was really getting angry. Since I left my retinol at home (which was recommended by my aesthetician since retinol and too much sun is a bad idea) I knew as soon as I got back I had to get back to my routine. Within 3 days of sticking to my usual skincare routine, plus a good mask, once I was home, my skin was back to normal. I used my Pure Enzymes mask to help really jumpstart this as well. What usually took weeks to clear up just took a matter of days. Miranda said thanks to these formulas, they are fighting the bacteria on the surface and also helping to work deep down in your skin. So not only is the surface getting better, but the way my skin reacts is improving as well.
I like to ask Miranda TONS of questions when I see her so that I know what to do when I’m in a situation like I was in Greece. Upon returning, I knew exactly how to get my skin back in order and that was thanks to her. She’s always providing me with great tips and insider tricks to making sure my skin looks great. Plus, if I ever have some sort of crazy reaction or concern, I can shoot her a quick text and make sure things are normal. An aesthetician on call? Don’t mind if I do!
If you don’t have a regular aesthetician and want to find one in your area, you can head to the COSMEDIX aesthetician finder here to track someone down. These professionals are knowledgable with the products and treatments so you can go in trusting you’re getting the best of the best.
