I remember doing this post about dark walls and swooning over how moody yet glamorous they were all at the same time. I knew I had to change up my bright coral wall as I was quickly growing old of it and also felt it was a little too young. When I first did it, I loved it, but I was ready for a change. Before I knew it, I discovered something crazy, the navy bedroom wall. And I instantly fell in love. Navy is a color I’m always drawn to but adding it to a wall seemed crazy. Until I tried it! There’s also something about constantly changing my surroundings that has quickly become a habit of mine. I feel like my home is ALWAYS under construction. The bedroom is finally finished and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Navy Bedroom Ideas
For the bedroom overhaul, I partnered with Homepolish to help me pull this navy bedroom wall concept off with ease. We started with an in-home consult with Sandie who’s based here in Atlanta. She came to my home to go over my vision and so that she can see my entire home and space. I knew I wanted to do the navy wall because for me, it feels like a neutral and can go with so many colors. Plus doing a dark wall was something I was just dying to try. Good news is Sandie loves a good dark wall too. Her bedroom has a black wall which I’m obsessed with so I was glad we were on the same page! After we chatted and she checked out my inspiration from Pinterest and my home, she came back for a follow-up appointment. She brought paint swatches and fabric samples for me to look over which was great.

After deciding on this perfect navy, Valspar Royal Navy, it was off to shop for duvets. This was actually a lot more difficult than I expected. I always knew shopping for bedding was not an easy task.  Who knew finding a grey set would be so difficult? I ended up with a grey and white chevron printed duvet. To add some more patterns, I added a diamond sheet set to the bed. Originally, I wanted to add blush and pinks to the room so that it complimented my living room. However, after Sandie brought over these mustard yellow pillows, I was sold. I absolutely loved how it pulled the room together and also added a touch of boho to the whole look.
Navy And Mustard Bedroom
The navy bedroom wall mixed with the grey and mustard accents was a color combination I didn’t even know I’d love. But it’s now my favorite room in my home. A few brass accents like these pretty lamps and H&M accessories completed the entire look.
TIP: When thinking about transforming your space and trying a really dark color, I recommend going with something you already love. If you love green, try a deep hunter green. If you’re more into minimlist neutrals, try charcoal. I love navy, so this was a no brainer to try!
I hope this dark wall trend is here to stay because I have to say, I’m so in love with how it turned out. My home is small and I wish I had more rooms in my home because a charcoal wall would totally be next. This room has been painted three times now and this is hands down the best it’s ever looked. It feels grown up, moody and a little romantic if you ask me. Huge thanks to Homepolish for helping me pull off the dark wall trend and transforming my space.
