Usually it’s one dress, three ways, one blazer three ways. But when do you ever see one lipstick three ways? Well, today you do!
If you remember WAY back in April I headed to Dallas with the Mary Kay team to learn some really great beauty tricks and I thought I’d finally share some of them! One of the best things that came out of that Mary Kay trip was finding the best red lipstick ever. It’s easy to remember too, it’s called RED. #duh. So I’m excited to show you three ways on how to apply your lipstick to get totally different looks.
One Lipstick, Three Ways
I love this lipstick so much that I had a serious meltdown when I went to go look for it one day and couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. Rarely do I lose things, so I was really beside myself when I couldn’t find it. It felt like I checked every single purse I own, all my drawers, my car, everywhere. I was so devastated I couldn’t find it that I tweeted about it to the world, and guess who emailed me within 30 minutes? Mary Kay. Talk about a seriously awesome company.
So here’s my one lipstick three ways. This is great for when you’re traveling so you only have to pack one lipstick and have it work for day or night. All you need is your go to lipstick (mine is clearly Mary Kay Red) a matching liner (I’m using this one from Mary Kay in plum) a fluffy brush and a lipstick brush. Now let’s get started with three ways to apply your lipstick.
Three Ways To Apply Your Lipstick
Using A Fluffy Brush For A Soft Look
Using your fluffy brush, dab the brush on the lipstick and apply to your lips. This is a great way to get light coverage for such a saturated and highly pigmented lipstick. Use this technique for your darker shades that you may not be sure you’re ready to rock just yet (like all those merlot’s and wine colored wines I’m too scared to wear but can’t get rid of).
It’s also a great way to wear those darker shades during the daytime and reapply with the tube for the night and a more dramatic look. This technique gives a softer look that isn’t as pigmented.
Using A Dense Lip Brush
This is probably the best way to apply your lipstick, with a lip brush. I NEVER do this, but it’s again, a great option to get a different level of saturation. This is probably the perfect 75% pigmentation of how the lipstick really looks when it’s applied directly from the tube.
Applying with a lip brush is also great to ensure you get the perfect line. You can even emphasize the outline of your lips to give it a lipliner look.
Apply Directly With Liner And Lipstick
Lipliner and lipstick, going all in. This is probably one of my favorite ways to wear lipstick. I like to line my lips and then fill them in a bit with the liner. It helps to hold the lipstick in place even longer. Applying the lipstick directly to your lip from the tube will give a high gloss shine and super-saturated color.
If you’re using a matte lipstick, you can add a gloss to give it some shine and then you’ve got one lipstick four ways.
