If you aren’t a Moscow Mule fan I don’t know what to say. It’s such a refreshing, delicious cocktail. And such a versatile one to switch up with seasonal ingredients. You really can’t go wrong by adding whatever your heart desires. I’ve done it several times on the blog already.
My pomegranate Moscow Mule, my Mexican Mule (made with tequila of course which is how I prefer to drink them). If you like you can even make a Kentucky Mule with bourbon! Since we’re in the south and it’s officially summer, I had to make a peach Moscow Mule of course.
This recipe is super easy as it’s your traditional Moscow Mule recipe. You can totally go crazy with your ingredients. Add in fresh herbs (similar to this peach smash) or other fruit you have on hand. I love this about cocktails, they’re so versatile and you can create whatever your heart desires once you have a method down.
But we’re going to keep things simple because this drink doesn’t need much fussing with. It’s perfect just the way it is. But adding fresh juicy Georgia peaches is kind of ideal.
Living in Atlanta, come summer, everything is peach something. Peach pancakes, peach cocktails, peach cobbler. We love our peaches. They’re widely available at the grocery store and farmers market and are always so fresh and sweet. A personal favorite summertime fruit. Plus, half our streets are named Peach-Something. We like our peaches!
Peach Moscow Mule Recipe
A classic Moscow Mule is just vodka, ginger beer (not ginger ale!) and lime juice. I made a few changes here, but you don’t have to. You can solely use the classic method and add in peaches. So simple, so delicious! Not a fan of peaches? Try any type of berry, try apricots, heck try watermelon. You can’t screw this one up, I promise!
INGREDIENTS
- 1.5 ounces of Vodka (you can use bourbon or tequila too)
- Peaches – diced
- Ginger Beer
- Peach Bitters (optional)
- Cinnamon (optional)
- Limes
- Ice
DIRECTIONS
- Add peaches to your glassware of choice (or a shaker)
- Muddle with a muddler until you get the juices going and it’s all mashed up. You can add the cinnamon and peach bitters here if you choose to, or don’t even bother. It will still be delicious!
- Add ice
- Top with vodka, ginger beer and a squeeze of lime juice
- Garnish with lime and a peach slice
You can make this drink a few ways too. Either in a shaker then strain it over ice in your glassware removing a lot of the chunky bits of fresh peaches. I personally enjoy a chunky cocktail so I like to do the muddling in the glass I’m going to be using and then just top it with the ice, liquor of choice and ginger beer and then give it a good stir. There’s no right or wrong way, it’s truly a preference.
However, for the pool and since we’re in full summer mode over here, I made this drink a bit different. And it’s a great way to make it pool friendly (and portable!). I decided to add the peaches and cinnamon to a blender (with a splash of water or vodka, whatever) and blended it up. Then added it to a container so I could mix it on the spot. This helps to keep the ginger beer fresh and no need for muddling by the pool.
TIP: Not able to find great peaches? You can also find peach nectar at the grocery store in the juice section. This will for sure work in a pinch!
Serving Peachy Moscow Mules
Let’s be honest, you can just drink one of these right now no matter the time of day. They’re just that good. But obviously, we can’t be having cocktails at 9am or else we’d get nothing done, right? Maybe on a weekend…. maybe.
Traditionally Moscow Mules are always served in copper mugs. They’re super cute and are just meant to be together. They get a little frosty on the outside and the metal keeps it extra cold. This drink is ideal for summer parties or a Saturday afternoon pick-me-up on your patio. A peach Moscow Mule also makes for an ideal cocktail to serve alongside any summer BBQ. Try my chimichurri chicken with a pasta salad for a complete summer feast.
For the pool, I chose to mix a big batch of this in this cute plastic pitcher from Target and poured them over ice in the matching cups. This will definitely be the new pool cocktail that I can make in a pinch!
