Homemade pizza is something I remember doing as a kid with my family. We would make our own pizza sauce, load up the dough with cheese, pepperoni and other yummy toppings and enjoy our hard work together. It’s been ages since I’ve made homemade pizza and as a part of my goal to cook more and to have friends over for meals from my Fall To Do List, this was the perfect way to kick things off. I invited over Fashionably Lo, Gilty as Charged and Moet on Stella for wine, pizza and girl talk. Oh, and dessert!
How To Host A Pizza Party
I made my own sauce from scratch…. you guys, don’t ever buy that store bought crap ever again. My sauce has 2 ingredients and tastes better than Prego. 1 can of canned tomato sauce and 1/2 tsp of oregano. Add in 1/4 tsp or more to taste of red chili flakes for a little heat. Simmer for a few minutes and then let cool. Prepping the rest of the ingredients for this was a cinch, little mozzarella, little basil and that’s it. I added soppressata to one of the pizzas, and always have chunky sea salt and red chiles to garnish with. Serving some red wine on a Fall night with pizza was the perfect flavor combo. Since we’re all watching our waists, and pizza isn’t that healthy (so I’ve been told) we enjoyed SkinnyGirl wine. YES, wine! At 100 calories a serving, we enjoyed that extra glass (or two).
