Today is National Popcorn Day and if you aren’t devouring some sort of popped kernel goodness, you’re missing out. I’m usually one for boring salt and pepper, or white cheddar (yummy) but today I thought I’d do something extra special in honor of the holiday. Rosemary, garlic popcorn. A fancy, elevated popcorn that you can easily gift to friends and they’d think you bought it at a fancy gourmet food shop.
I recently did some recipe testing (if you follow along on Snapchat you got a behind the scenes of this one!) over the weekend and popped my own popcorn for the first time ever. I was slightly nervous to do it, but once I realized how stupid simple it was, I’ll never buy microwave popcorn again. It took a matter of 3-4 minutes total and you have the creative freedom to make whatever you like. Plus, there’s no questionable chemicals in it either. It’s simple and real ingredients, which I love. I’ll definitely be trying out new combinations and trying to master the classic buttered flavor we all know and love. Until then, I’m totally fine with this upscale popcorn version or even a simple salt and pepper that’s my favorite snack of choice.
Rosemary Garlic Popcorn
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 garlic clove smashed
- 2 sprigs of rosemary chopped
- 1 tbsp sea salt
Instructions
- Chop rosemary and add to sea salt. Set aside.
- In a large pot, add olive oil and garlic over medium heat. Let the garlic infuse the olive oil for 1-2 minutes before adding the kernels. Add in kernels and cover with lid slightly ajar. Let the kernels pop until they take 2-3 seconds between pops. Add to plastic bag or large bowl and toss in sea salt and rosemary mixture.
