If you’ve never heard of the brand Sézane, I hope I’m about to turn you onto a really fun brand. Founded by Morgane Sézalory who found an old suitcase with vintage clothes inside, started to sell these pieces and creating slight tweaks to them.
She started to fill in the collection with her very own designs, and Sézane was born. Her pieces aim to be timeless well made items that can one day be vintage. You can definitely feel a sense of this when you shop the collection. It almost feels like a time capsule yet it also feels current.
Since this is a French brand, sizing can be a bit different from European sizing to US sizing system. And since these pieces ship from France, it’s important to make a really good guestimate of what size you’ll need to avoid a ton of back and forth shipping and returns. Here’s my Sézane sizing guide for when you decide to jump in on this stunning French brand.

Sézane Free Shipping And Shipping Customs Charges
I learned this the hard way because I am terrible at reading (and I truly believe their website was more recently updated to make this more visible), but you need to be cautious with your order value. When shipping items from outside of the country into the US, you will be subject to customs charges.
Don’t Spend Over $800 In A Single Day
Anything over $800 will be subject to this charge. And it can be quite a lot. My recommendation is to split your order up if you’re getting close to the $800 mark. And per an Indigoer’s suggestion, place the orders on two separate days or you may still be subject to the fees.
Free Shipping Over $200 At Sezane
Sézane offers free delivery on orders over $200 to the US & Canada. This is pretty easy to do there anyway. And always free return shipping which is super fast. They will not refund customs charges, so again, make sure your order (and returns) are under $800.
This is easy enough to do by simply splitting up your order. For me, this makes shopping with them super easy because free shipping and returns are just the best. And they ship FAST. Things arrive in just a couple of days.
My Favorite Part About Ordering At Sezane
One little random note, Sezane is hands down my favorite package to receive. Their packages are packed beautifully, smell amazing, and it just looks like someone took great care in packing your items. Trust me, you’ll know what I mean when you place your first order. And a lot of the time, they throw in a free tote, or makeup bag, something fun. It’s the little touches that make a difference.
Sizing Tips On Each Item
Just about every item on the Sézane website will include a Sizing Guide with a link to the Sezane sizing chart. It includes a quick note on sizing from size up if you’re in-between, or this item runs large, so size down for a standard fit. And so on. I have found this to be pretty spot-on when shopping.
Below are my personal sizing tips from the popular categories on their website. And when you’re viewing the site, if you see numbers in the 30s for tops, this is the French sizing. You should be able to click the size chart to see the French to US conversion. Typically if you’re on the Sezane US site, it should be showing US sizing.
Does Sezane Run Small?
The number one question I get asked about Sezane Paris sizing is, “does Sezane run small”? Since Sezane is a French brand, I have found that sizing does run smaller than American sizes. Which is pretty common when comparing French brands to American brands.
What Size I Get
For sizing reference, I’m usually a 27 in Madewell denim. A size 4 in Madewell, LOFT and J.Crew and typically a small in most tops across the board. If things run a tad small at all, I’ll usually size up and take my larger size.
I would say I’m sometimes in-between at some brands. I’m 5’5″ and have a 32DD bust. So for me at Sezane, I typically find myself in my larger size across the board. We’ll dive into each category and popular styles in today’s post so you can see exactly what size you should get at Sezane. Also, below is their sizing guide to see your French to US size conversion.
When Does Sezane Release New Collections?
One of the really fun things about shopping at Sezane is their monthly collections. Each month there is a new colorful collection to shop. The pieces go fast though! They get released on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am Paris time. This means, 3:30 am EST.
Sadly, this means lots of sizes go pretty fast. If you’re really excited about a new collection, you should definitely try to get up early to snag it. You can also create an alert to be notified when things come back in stock at Sezane Paris.
Does Sezane Do Sales?
Sezane rarely does any sales and promotions. Every so often there will be a coupon for one or two days. And about twice a year they do an archive sale. This is when they bring out old pieces and discount them.
Sézane Sizing Guide
Tops & Blouses
When it comes to a button-down, I have found myself in the larger size at Sezane. But for tees and tops with some stretch, I’m pretty comfortable in my usual size. Their sizes run from 0-16 typically which are American sizes.
If you see 34, 36, etc on tops, you’re viewing the French sizing. You can reference the Sezane size guide if it’s not switching over. A 34 is the equivalent of a size 2 US. And a French 36 is the equivalent to a US size 4, a French 38 is a US size 6 and so on.
The Max Shirt
The Max shirt is a fantastic slightly oversized button down and I take a 36 or size US 4 in this. The Tomboy shirt is a bit more fitted and while I fit into my larger size, I prefer the look and fit of the Max.
In some blouses that are more fitted and may not have any give, I’m at least a 36/6 or a 38/8. I am always keeping fabric and fit in mind when shopping to determine what size I go with.
Sezane Sweaters And Jumpers
I feel like Sezane is known for its knitwear. When you go into the Sezane stores in Paris (they’re stunning by the way, just go in to browse, it’s beautiful) they have an entire wall of perfectly folded sweaters.
The fabrics are high quality and they are beautifully made. I find myself typically more comfortable in my regular size for Sezane sweaters. I took a size small in the above striped sweater.
You’ll also notice they refer to sweaters as “jumpers”, this is a common term for sweaters in Europe. And one of the more popular styles to shop at Sezane, is the Gaspard cardigan sweater. This cute mother of pearl effect button front cardigan comes in lots of colors. And you can even wear it in reverse with the buttons in the back. It’s a very chic and playful way to style the Gaspard cardigan from Sézane.
A few other notable favorites from the brand include the Betty Cardigan and also the Barry Cardigan.
The Sezane Trench Coat
The Scott trench coat is a BEAUTY. It’s definitely a bit of a splurge, but for good reason. The fabric has a bit of a heavier weight to it making it the perfect trench to take you well into fall and maybe even early winter. It comes in a few colors as well.
I took my usual size 4 (or Europe size 36) in this and it’s not too fitted where I couldn’t wear a thin sweater under it. I think if you’re a big layering type of person and like chunky sweaters, I’d probably suggest sizing up, especially if you’re in-between sizes.
Sezane Blazers
I’m a blazer kind of gal so it’s no surprise I had to try the Sezane blazers. I have the Michele striped blazer and the matching Cedric shorts. This is one of the best blazers in my closet. I’d compare it to the quality and fit of a Veronica Beard blazer at a fraction of the price.
The Michele blazer and the Christie jacket are closet staples you’ll have for years. They are a double breasted suit jacket that’s lined with a back slit. Sezane’s blazers and jackets also usually have matching trousers to pair with them. These make for great suits to wear to the office, or even to style up for a more fashion-forward look.
For sizing, I have found myself preferring my larger size in the blazer. But my regular size also fit it just wasn’t as comfortable. If you’re in-between sizes and prefer a more relaxed blazer fit, size up. Otherwise you may want to try your regular size here.
Sezane Footwear Review
These knee-high suede boots are one of the most beautiful pairs of shoes I have ever owned. I just adore them. The Adèle boots are a closet staple and come in a few colors. They are insanely comfortable, absolutely beautiful and worth every penny.
I’ve also tried a few pairs of shoes on in the store and have found that I take my usual size. Sezane shoes don’t come in half sizes and so if you’re in between, size up. I am usually an 8 or 8.5 and did a 9 in the boots. I typically choose an 8.5 or 9 in boots for me so I can wear a thicker sock for the winter.
A US size 9 is the equivalent of a European size 40. If you’re an 8 or 8.5, you can try a 39 which is an 8. For heels and other shoes, I would take a 39 in Sezane shoes which is an 8.
Will Jacket
This is a staple in the Sézane clothing collection. The Sezane Will jacket is the perfect shacket, slight utility jacket, not even sure what to call it. It’s simply the perfect in-between of them all.
It’s got a nice weight to it and runs true to size. Hits below the hip for a longer line which I like. It also comes in tons of colors, prints and even fabrics. For sizing on the Will jacket I took a size small and I can easily layer underneath it. I’d say this piece runs true to size.
Sézane Sweatshirts
This is one of the softest things in my closet. I love it so much. I decided to go up a size in this to a medium for a slightly relaxed fit. It’s probably the perfect fit and not too relaxed so if you’re in-between, maybe size up.
I even have a different print in a large which is a great slightly oversized sweatshirt. You can really go up two sizes if you want to and it still looks great and not too messy. For a more fitted sweatshirt (which I just don’t prefer) go with your usual size. But I think these look great going up one size.
Sézane Dresses
This button-down shirt dress is my first dress from Sezane. I went with a size US 6 which is a French size of 38. I love this paired with boots for fall. But you can also dress it down with some sneakers and a leather jacket.
I have tried several of their dresses over the years and find that a size 6 works best and I’m usually a 4 or 6 in most other brands.
I also have this fun printed mini dress. One thing I love that Sezane does is that they pay close attention to little details. This dress has snaps for your bra so they don’t show. It has smocking in the back as well helping to make it a perfect fit.
Sézane Leather Bags
I have been eyeing the Sezane handbags for YEARS. And after a trip to Paris, and seeing the leather in person, I was sold. I added two bags to my closet.
The Farrow bag is their popular bucket bag. It comes in several sizes and colors. I like the regular size Farrow bag and have it in the blue croc and in the classic heritage natural leather. The regular smooth leather ones are really soft and beautiful.
The Milo bag is another favorite and I went with the sherpa one for something more trendy. It can be worn as a crossbody or on your shoulder as the strap is adjustable. It’s a smaller size on the inside so I usually use my smaller wallet whenever I use this bag.
The Milo bag comes in two sizes. The one seen above is the smaller one. It’s the perfect size, but you can’t really do a big wallet. Sézane Paris also has the Milo Classic which is a bit larger and looks a lot like the A.P.C. Grace bag, or even the Celine medium classic bag.
These are my favorite thing to splurge on. They also have beautiful baskets for spring and summer.
Sezane Denim
Sezane denim is high quality and beautifully made. A few popular styles include Le Crop which is the perfect cropped wide leg denim, the 70’s trouser which comes in a few great washes and colors, and the Brut Sexy which is a great classic straight leg jean. There are a few other styles, but I think these three are my personal favorites.
The Sezane jeans are definitely a bit on the snug side. With 100% cotton for most of them, I always suggest sizing up. I took a size 38 and even 40 in their denim. They do not have a curvy fit option so my suggestion is to size up and spend the $25 to get it taken it at the waist for a perfect fit. I did that with the 70’s trouser and it made all the difference.
