I’ve been living with my tiny little kitchen for a decade now. WOW. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I’ve been living in my condo. Let’s not go down that deep dark hole.
This kitchen got a major upgrade a couple of years back and I’ve been in love with it ever since. Really, the entire apartment got a total upgrade over the years and it’s a totally new space. One thing I have found to be a true struggle in my kitchen though is the organization. It’s fairly organized in the sense that my pots and pans go here, my cutting boards and sheet pans here and there. But let me tell you what it’s like to grab a sheet pan to cook. I struggle to get them out of the cabinet as they’re all stacked upright and hard to pull out because they get caught within one another.
My cabinets are deep too which is great, but it means finding something in the back is a struggle. Or I just never see it. Ever. There are things in the back of these cabinets that haven’t seen the light of day in ages. For someone that cooks every single day (thanks TRIM Bootcamp!) I needed a better solution. Insert Shelf Genie. An Atlanta based company that helps to organize and streamline your cabinets, pantries, and closets with shelving solutions that make sense.

Getting Your Kitchen Organized With Shelf Genie
The Consultation
First up, is a consultation. A ShelfGenie expert comes out to your space and measures everything. Learns about your pain points and what kind of solutions you’re looking for. Knowing that the pans and cutting boards were an issue I knew I wanted an organizer drawer for these. I also would’ve loved some pull out drawers under the sink to easily pull out my trash and cleaning supplies.
Once we figured out what I wanted, my ShelfGenie expert created a 3D mock-up of my new kitchen with the solutions we chose. It was great to see how everything would work.
The Product
At the consultation, you also go over the product and its options. From colors to quality of material, soft close and not. They bring over samples so you can make the right decision for not only your budget but for your space. I went with a soft close, which was a tad more expensive but in my opinion, worth it. It’s a game-changer experience when utilizing your kitchen. I also chose the white so it would match the rest of my kitchen.
The Install
Installation was a total breeze. They really don’t take long to install at all. Just be sure to remove your items in your cabinets prior to them arriving to ensure a smooth install. Mine took 2 hours tops to install 7 drawers.
My Tips For Adding ShelfGenie To Your Kitchen
Tip One – Square Footage!
Think about square footage! I knew that the drawers would take up some space, but I honestly didn’t realize HOW much space. I definitely had to purge a few things. This is obviously a small kitchen problem. If you have a larger space, you may not run into this issue. I truly need every square inch of the space I can get and I wish I realized this beforehand. I think I would’ve done 1 or 2 fewer pull outs to help keep some space that I desperately need.
Tip Two – Kitchen Usage
Consider how you use your kitchen. You may not realize a pull out drawer may be a great fit until it’s there. Ask your ShelfGenie expert what they think, they are the experts after all! Sometimes a drawer in this one spot is genius for how you utilize your kitchen. See what they think!
