The Side Braid Low Bun You Can Easily Recreate

If you’re looking for a really easy, no real hair expertise needed, hairstyle, this is it. I love doing an easy side braid into a low bun. It’s effortless but feels elevated. You can easily wear this as a hairstyle to a wedding or special event. But it’s also perfect for those days you don’t want to use heat on your hair for a simple hairstyle. Here’s how to do the side braid low bun hair tutorial.

Side Braid Low Bun Hair Tutorial

I like to do this on day two hair that’s been curled or waved. Add in some texturizing spray to get a little more grip and texture.

Tools You’ll Need

• Texturizing Spray
• Hair tie
• Bobby pins (optional)

Step One

First, part your hair however you usually do, I do a side part. I take the bigger side and begin a standard three strand dutch braid. That means you go UNDER instead of OVER. I begin at the top and pull in more pieces as I go. I really only french braid up until my ear, then regular braid.

You don’t need to french braid ALL the way back. Just do the side of your head like you see here and then just finish it off as a regular braid.

Step Two

Next you’ll want to pull it apart. Always begin at the bottom so you can loosen it up so you have hair to pull apart at the top as well. Really get your fingernails into the hair and create lots of texture and volume. For additional grit, add in some of this texture powder.

Step Three

Grab all your hair back into a low ponytail. This is also where you can add more if you like. You can totally braid the other side as well and do two. Whatever you decide to do, do it before you do the ponytail (duh). Put your hair into a low messy bun.

You can even put this into a low ponytail just looped half way so that hair isn’t fully coming out (similar here) and then tie your hair around the elastic for a really special look.

That’s it! This is such an easy style to wear while working out, to the office or even to a wedding. Just add some sparkly earrings and you’ve got a really simple updo.
