I’m never one to go all out for the holidays unless it’s Christmas. I always put up my tree and love the whole process of putting on the ornaments while listening to Christmas music. But Halloween, Valentine’s Day and all the other ones in between just don’t ever do it for me. But this year I decided to try my hand at sprucing up my house just a tad with the help of a few small easy changes.
Swapping out my fruit bowl with tiny pumpkins and ugly gourds. I don’t really have space for a real life pumpkin, so these make it feel like Fall in a pinch. These usually house my spare nail polishes, candy and corks. I finally tossed the Starburst’s that were more than likely stale and swapped in fresh cranberries and a variety of whole nuts. This is probably my favorite swap yet and loving the simple and sophisticated touch of Fall these add to my kitchen table.
The one and only Halloween thing in my house. I actually hate the holiday with a passion, but this Pier 1 find was too cute to pass up. Nothing makes me happier than fresh flowers in my house. The farmers market had the prettiest bouquet of flowers with such interesting varieties in it that I had to grab the bunch. I built this bouquet myself and have to say, I think I may have missed my florist calling. Pretty impressed with how it came out. The vase is simple and from Ikea, but I am contemplating doing this DIY to spruce it up a bit.
Whenever I pick up flowers, I always pull the tiny pieces out and fill up tiny shot glasses, stemless wine glasses or my tiny mercury vase up with a few leftovers. It helps to brighten the whole house and ties all the rooms together with similar flowers.
PS, how fun are those pencils? I got the most amazing care package from Cathy of Poor Little It Girl the other day and it just made my day. These are too cute to use, and will strictly sit on my desk as decorative pencils. They’re adorable!
