On a recent visit to Charleston, I decided to switch things up a bit and stay at a new to me hotel right off Market Street, The Spectator Hotel. After an incredible stay, it’s safe to say that The Spectator Hotel in Charleston SC is hands down in my top five best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. And definitely, one of the best hotels in Charleston. From its beautiful rooms, to unique amenities and a great location to be able to explore The Holy City, this is a must book hotel for your next getaway.
Spectator Hotel In Charleston, SC
As I drove up to the hotel, I instantly noticed cute little bikes sitting outside with ‘Spectator’ on the baskets. I was charmed before I even walked in the door! As I made my way in, the lobby was full of bold colorful wallpaper, deep rich colors like navy and teals, and lots of gold. And I was welcomed with a complimentary welcome cocktail. Not a bad way to start the weekend.
Everywhere I turned was simply stunning. I loved that it felt small and boutique-like. With only 41 rooms, this quaint little hotel truly felt like a Charleston gem. Which also meant, very attentive service you can expect as a guest.
The Rooms At Spectator Hotel
Upon check-in, I was handed a key and leather fob that gains you access to the elevator and rooms. As I walked into the room, I was blown away by the size and combination of navy and gray (you guys, you know I love me some navy and gray from clothing to decor).
The bathroom was the size of my bedroom at home. It had a HUGE soaking tub and a giant walk-in marble shower. A great space for a few friends to get ready for a girl’s night out, or to soak in a bubble bath with your significant other.
The room was also packed with complimentary goodies like cheese straws and San Pellegrino sodas. When I arrived, I was in a hurry to get my dress steamed to head to a wedding. I asked the bellman who had brought my bags up if they had a steamer since I forgot mine.
She informed me that she was actually my room butler for the day and would be happy to take any garments down for steaming. Talk about service! This was a wonderful little perk that I was super appreciative of.
Guest Perks At The Spectator Hotel
The Night Cap
A few really fun perk that you get as a guest at The Spectator Hotel is the night cap they send up to your room each night. A little chocolate cup filled with a sweet night cap. Such a fun and unique idea to finish off the night.
The Mini Bar
We are all terrified of eating something out of the minibar. But not here! The items in the mini bar are complimentary to guests.
Complimentary Breakfast
In the morning, I drank my coffee in the sitting area of these spacious rooms while devouring their complimentary in-room dining breakfast. Yes, you read that right. Complimentary, continental breakfast, in-room dining.
Now this is no toast and fruit situation you guys. This is biscuits, frittata, bruléed grapefruits, yogurt parfaits and more. Having a delicious breakfast in your room was such a special treat. It m ade mornings that much more indulgent.
Complimentary Bicycles
One of my favorite ways to explore Charleston is by bike. It’s the best way to see the city with ease. At The Spectator Hotel, you can take out a complimentary bike to explore the charming cobblestone streets and visit The Battery and beyond. Since The Spectator Hotel is located right in downtown, it makes it really easy to get around by bike to explore.
The Lobby Bar
If you prefer a full cocktail instead of your in-room night cap, head to The Bar in the lobby for a prohibition-era-inspired menu. From innovative cocktails to light bites, this is a great spot to start your evening or finish it off.
Meanwhile, while you’re sitting on one of these gorgeous leather barstools, you feel like you’re in a beautiful study with bookshelves stocked to the brim with books and trinkets.
In conclusion, Charleston is one of my all time favorite destinations. It’s easy to get to from the east coast and has so much to offer. Also, for more Charleston guide recommendations, check out my ultimate guide to Charleston here.
