For spring, one of my favorite lightweight jackets has always been a great trench coat. They are a quintessential piece for any wardrobe. And what’s so fun about them, is that they come in so many styles, lengths and colors, that you can find something for any wardrobe.
For spring 2023 and even fall 2023, I’m all about the super long trench coat. The duster length is super flattering, feels like a fresh update from our Millennial wardrobes, and just pulls any outfit together.
Spring Trench Coat Styles To Try
The Long Oversized Trench Coat
This is hands down my preferred trench coat style. To me, this is the Millennial swap many of us need to be making. Instead of the short mid-thigh cut cotton twill trench coat, go long. Anything at or below the knee is best.
I’m loving mine from LOFT which is just the perfect length. I went up to a size medium on this one to allow for sweaters and a slightly oversized fit. Otherwise, take your usual size if you want a regular fit.
A Fun Colored Trench Coat
Lots of bright colors are trending for spring and trying a bold trench coat in a neon hue is so fun. Try a pink or citron lime yellow color. I also love a pretty soft blue or sage green. This one from Sezane is a favorite of mine.
A Cropped Trench Coat
Cropped jackets are a really fun silhouette for spring 2023. We’re seeing a lot of shorter jackets from denim jackets, to tweed jackets and even trench ones. Style this with a more blousy bottom to balance it all out. This would pair well with trousers, or your favorite straight leg jeans.
Leather Trench Coat
While a leather trench is a tad heavier for spring, this is great if you live in a colder climate. I think a leather trench coat can be worn all fall, winter and even into spring. I’d still go for a longer duster style trench if I went for a leather one. It’s such a chic topper for any outfit.
How I’m Styling A Trench For That In-Between Weather
This outfit today is the perfect fall and winter outfit. But while we sit in this in-between season and weather, adding a trench coat, instead of a heavy wool coat, is the perfect update. A mini skirt and sweater with sheer tights is a classic outfit combination. And the long trench coat completes this French girl style outfit.
