Raise your hand if you’re guilty of running around on the 4th of July in denim cut-offs, a white or red tank and chucks. Sure it’s cute. But I’m in my 30s, it’s time to elevate and look a little more put together, don’t you think? This button-front striped dress is exactly what I think of when I want an elevated 4th of July outfit. It’s not all in your face American flag with stars and stripes. It’s nice enough to look stylish and also feel good in. No need to be too kitschy even on the 4th of July.
Elevated 4th Of July Outfit Ideas
The best way to effortlessly elevate your 4th of July-inspired outfit is to choose either red or blue, and go with one of your favorite silhouettes or trends. You can also go all white, and just add a pop of blue or red in an accessory too. But when it comes to silhouettes, for me, that’s button-up dresses. For you, it might be a great tee or button-down. Or maybe you love a romper! When you’re picking out what to wear for a 4th of July celebration or backyard BBQ, choose what makes you feel great and just do a slight nod to the red white and blue theme. I’ve got you covered today with lots of great ideas on how to elevate your 4th of July outfit this holiday.

Red, White Or Blue Dresses
One of my favorite things to wear is a simple dress with a denim jacket. Instantly add that blue hue to your look with my FAVORITE wardrobe essential. Just choose a white dress and denim jacket for the easiest look for the 4th of July. Add a red bandana in your hair or around your bag if you like so you have all three colors. Or, just choose a dress in the color blue! I love this $30 t-shirt dress from Everlane, such a great piece and so comfortable. You could also go with a red floral or red and white stripe. There’s no rules here other than go for red, white or blue!
Simple In Shorts
I love a good pair of denim shorts, so these are usually my go to when I’m pretty casual. Adding a blue and white striped tee, or a white linen blazer is great. I also love a simple red tank paired with a denim jacket. Easily accomplish your red, white and blue this way! To make this feel less like I’m in my 20s and more like a grown up, I skip the tank and short cut offs and go for something a bit more elevated. A nice linen blouse, a third piece like a denim jacket or blazer, and so on.
Feminine Skirts
If you’re more a skirt person, you could opt for a denim skirt and same rules apply. Add a white or red top, or even a navy one. Add in a colorful accessory to complete the look. Or, choose a colorful skirt like this red midi floral. Covers all your colors in one pretty print! This way you can keep everything else nice and simiple.
