Earlier this season I picked up some new Target sock booties. I was on the hunt for a good sock bootie to wear with straight-leg jeans. As I’m sure you know, the denim trends have drastically changed which means, our shoe choices have to change too. Period. I keep getting asked, “can I still wear my low ankle booties from a few years ago”? The answer is simply no. If you’re wearing straight leg jeans, this type of ankle bootie is not the answer. Instead, we are on the hunt for a bootie with a higher shaft that hugs your leg a bit more. Insert, the sock bootie.
But hear me out. I really don’t want to spend a ton of money on this trend. For a few reasons. I’m rarely wearing heels these days and I just find myself not wearing a ton of boots where I live. So off to Target I went to snag these perfect sock booties. They’re so good that I texted all my friends and no joke, every single one of them also bought a pair. We now have to coordinate when we get dressed up to make sure we’re not all wearing the same shoes.
Styling The Target Penelope Sock Bootie
The way that I plan to wear these booties most is something like how I have in today’s outfit. Straight leg jeans, I swear by my Madewell perfect vintage style, and a tucked-in top or cropped sweater. Add a light jacket, blazer, or coat and you’re good to go.
You can totally wear the Target sock bootie (or any sock bootie like this) in a few different ways. Pair with a flowy midi or maxi skirt and a fitted crop sweater. Style with a trouser or wide leg jean. But for me, I’ll mostly be wearing these just like this. Pairing with all my favorite straight-leg denim. This keeps your ankles warm and it’s the best boot option for straight-leg jeans. They fall perfectly over the boot.
Target Boot Sizing
I found that I took my usual size in these booties. If you’re someone who wants to wear a thick sock with your boots, I would probably go up half a size. Or if you’re in-between sizes, go up. These are surprisingly comfortable too and have a 3.25 inch heel. High, but not too high. Just right. They come in a few colors like black, this tan color and also an off-white.
Another great option at Target is this Janelle dress boot. Also comes in a few colors and has a similar look to it. It has a slightly lower heel at only 3 inches and comes in a few more colors. This pretty burgundy is great for fall and winter.
PS for Cyber Monday there is a MAJOR sale happening on shoes at Target.
How I Styled The Boots
White denim can totally be worn in the fall and winter. You just have to pair it with all the right fall and wintery things. A fall trench is great like this one from Sezane. It’s truly a favorite of mine in my closet. Add a sweater tank or long sleeve tee underneath and you’re good to go.
