I’ve always had a dream of one day having a clothing line. It’s not really a true attainable dream, just one of those things you dream up and know you kind of don’t ever want to try. Do people have those? Like sure I’d love to be a famous actor, but I’m not going to take acting classes. It’s just something you dream up like how you’d spend your money if you won the lottery. And a clothing line has always been one of those.
When dreaming up my very own clothing line I’ve always said it would include a few simple things. I’d have the best damn t-shirts, the most flattering and comfortable jeans and an amazing t-shirt dress. I think you can understand my love for the first two. But the t-shirt dress does seem a little out of place, right? Hear me out. I’ve got a true hourglass figure and traditional t-shirt dresses are oftentimes cut straight up and down. Which means they’re tight around my chest and hips and loose around my natural waist. The other option is oftentimes a super big swing t-shirt dresses that kind of almost always suck. I need something perfectly in-between. And that’s what I’d want in my clothing line.
The Perfect T-Shirt Dress
This Alternative Apparel t-shirt dress is about the closest thing I’ve found so far. It’s a touch swingy, but not that it’s a ton of fabric and makes me feel like I’m in a potato sac. The slight a-line silhouette is what makes it perfect. It’s insanely comfortable (nap approved) and can be styled a few ways. Sharing two easy ways to style it with my two favorite jackets. But you could also style it with some loafers, or combat boots for fall depending on your personal style.
What Size Should You Get?
For sizing on this Alternative Apparel t-shirt dress, I went for a small. I will say, it’s a tad snug in the armpit but I think it’s fine. If you’re super busty or broad, I’d size up for that area specifically. The dress is definitely a tad swingy so it’s got room if you’re hippy!
Two Ways To Style A T-Shirt Dress
I think a t-shirt dress is so so easy to style. Add any and all of your favorite jackets to it from denim jackets, leather jackets, blazers and even cardigans. It’s so versatile. That’s why I love a t-shirt (and t-shirt dress). For fall, swap the sneakers for booties. I’d put this dress away though for winter. For look one, I’m going classic with a denim jacket and platform Converse. A spotted camera bag adds a little bit of something special to the look. This also makes for an ideal travel outfit too. Great for exploring somewhere new and easy to pack. It’s also exactly what I’d wear to grab lunch with a friend.
And yes, those are my SPANX Thinstincts 2.0 you see when I sit. This dress is just swingy enough that I’d prefer to wear something from this post I did. Just better to be covered than not!
Look Two With A T-Shirt Dress
For look two, I went a tad more edgy and street style inspired. When I think of casual street style, I think leather jackets, cool sneakers and sunnies of course. This leather jacket is a closet favorite and can’t recommend investing in a good one if you’re a fan of one. They’re worth it! And I don’t know why I don’t wear these Reebok’s more, they’re the greatest white sneaker! This look would also be great with a flat black Chelsea boot for fall to give it an even cooler vibe.
