I am not really a cardigan kind of person. I have a few in my closet. And I honestly think I have them because of the blog. I just don’t wear them normally in my day to day. And if I do, it’s usually bumming around at home to have something cozy on. But rarely do I wear them out. Part of me has some sort of body dysmorphia when I wear them. I feel like I look massive. But yet, I see these cute photos and I like it! Part of me just needs to remember it requires specific styling for my body type. And I’m figuring it out, finally.
How I’m Taking My Winter Cardigans Into Spring
You may remember this cardigan from the winter. It’s a solid LOFT find and I wore it with all black paired with faux leather leggings and a black tee. Added some brown suede pumps for an unrealistic finishing touch that was definitely designed for the blog, and not my usual every day. I keep finding myself doing that. While I used to wear heels often, between COVID and my love for sneakers, it’s just not happening in real life as often as it is on the blog. So insert this outfit. One I have actually worn in public and really loved it.
For me, if I’m wearing a cardigan like this, I have learned I need to keep everything else as fitted to my body as possible. Otherwise, I can quickly look and feel messy. I threw on these amazing LOFT jeans and my go-to fitted Reformation tee. It’s so good and perfect for when I need a bodysuit kind of look without a bodysuit (because I hate a bodysuit). And finished it off with my black Converse.
This combination feels very ready for spring, but it’s still cool out, kind of vibe. Pairing the sweater cardigan with a more spring-ready shoe is key. Instead of wearing a bootie or even a leather sneaker, I opted for a canvas Converse to make it feel lighter and more like spring. This one little swap makes this outfit instantly feel like the perfect transition from winter to spring.
Hold up, you need these socks
PS, I didn’t even notice this until I saw the photos. But you can totally see my no-show socks. No big deal, no one’s perfect, right? But honestly, they’re THE BEST. A friend of mine recommended them to me last summer and they have changed my life. I used to never wear socks with my Converse, but once I found these, I do. And they don’t budge at all. I wear them with almost all my sneakers now.
