The big annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing and starting July 17th, you’ll be able to shop if you do not have a Nordstrom credit card. While some things may be sold out, many returns happen and items often come back into stock. I recommend checking back to see if your favorites are back in stock to shop. Easily do this too by making a wishlist in your Nordstrom account.
This sale is like no other sale in that you can buy fall essentials at up to 33% off. I like to stock up on certain basics like these awesome tees that are under $20. But also some items like sweaters, jeans, Nike socks, updated sportswear and more.
It’s definitely the time to also think about your winter plans. Will you be needing winter boots? They’ve got some great ones on sale that I wish I bought years ago! Or Hunter rain boots too! Here are my closet essentials that I always recommend considering to purchase during the #NSALE as they don’t often go on sale any other time during the year.
7 Affordable Closet Essentials To Buy At The #NSale
1. Leather Jackets
I’m OBSESSED with leather jackets. It’s basically all I wear come fall. You’ve seen me wear them with jeans and sneakers, to dresses and even skirts. They’re a great essential for your closet.
Whether you prefer to go all out on leather, faux leather or suede, there are a few great options to choose from. I’m picking up this AllSaints leather jacket as a bit of a splurge. But again, rarely does it go on sale. This brand runs super small, so be sure to size up at least 1-2 sizes.
2. Winter Boots
If you live in a cold climate, this is the time to grab the winter essentials you’ll need. I used to have to travel to some cold places for my old day job, so having a pair of winter shoes was essential even living in the south.
I love a great pair of winter boots to have for snowy days, and wet slush if you live in those types of climates. This is a great time to get a fashion forward pair at a discount.
3. Jackets & Blazer
Utility jackets and fashion blazers are probably one of my most worn jackets right behind my leather one. They make for a great transition piece from summer to fall and winter to spring.
Plus, they’re a perfect light layer for summer nights. We call these your third piece and they help to really complete outfits. You’ve seen me style an identical version of this one here and here.
4. Sneakers
Do you call them sneakers or running shoes? I say both. For the sale, I almost always pick up a new pair of sneakers every year. For around 60-something dollars, you can get a brand new stylish pair of Adidas or Nikes in fun colors.
You can also find everyday sneakers like fun Converse or Keds usually during this sale.
5. Basic Tees
Whether you go with my favorite Caslon tees, or these, basic tees are always essential to stock up on. I grabbed them in white as I’m notorious for destroying my white tees. I can never have too many. And for around $17, why not? I always buy the petite version, they’re not as long as the classic.
6. Sweaters & Cardigans
This is the real winner in the sale, the cold weather favorites. Sweaters, cardigans and coats. Nowhere else will you find new styles for fall and winter on sale for sweaters. Grab them while you can!
7. Bras And Underwear
This is one of the things I always suggest purchasing during the sale. My go to cotton underwear are part of this sale almost every year, the Natori girl briefs. And if you’re in need of any new bras, this is the time to get them.
My favorite Wacoal t-shirt bra is part of the sale. And I also am always a fan of anything Chantelle makes. You can learn more about the essential bras everyone should own here.
And if you need it, grab a pair of Spanx or other undergarments to round out your lingerie drawer. Having the right undergarments to wear under your dresses is key to wearing your closet and feeling confident!
