One of the questions I get asked a lot is where do you get your inspiration from. And it definitely comes from a variety of places. Traveling, new restaurants, magazines (yes I still read some!), Instagram and more. But when I think of who influences my purchases the most, there’s a shortlist of favorite influencers who definitely have an impact. I wouldn’t own or know about some of the brands in my closet or beauty drawer if it weren’t for a few of these ladies. Their honest reviews, similar style and personalities, all inspire me to make purchases based on their recommendations. I always find it interesting who people are inspired by and I have to give credit where credit is due.
The Influencer Gets Influenced
Charmed By Camille
I’d love to just swap closets with Camille. Oh, and apartments as she now has a spot in NYC, duh. Our style is super similar and so is how we style similar pieces. We both love denim, casual styles but don’t hate getting a little dressed up as well. She recently inspired this LOFT dress and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sent my photographer, Hannah, a photo of hers saying “I love this, why can’t I be this cool”. She has an effortless cool-girl vibe to her and her photos that I just adore.
Glitter & Gingham
All my friends inspire me in one way or another. But Shelby’s not only a friend but a great blogger as well. Looking at her feed you may think, Jessica, how is this colorful bright person inspiring you and your dark moody self. Well, that’s the thing, it’s not her outfits. Although I love everything she wears I just can’t pull it off! It’s actually her beauty product recommendations. She’s a fellow oily-skinned person and has a major beauty obsession. Since I’m not big on trying tons of new makeup, and rarely put on any unless I have to be somewhere important, I rely on Shelby for any and all beauty recommendations. If she says it’s great, I’ll buy it. No questions asked.
A few products I’ve bought based on her recommendation are the Charlotte Tilbury contour palette (my favorite product in my makeup drawer) primers, and more.
Brooklyn Blonde
One of the OG bloggers who I have been following for close to a decade, Brooklyn Blonde. I’ve always loved Helena’s sleek minimal style paired with her NYC backdrops. But the more I follow her day to day on IG Stories, the more I find myself being influenced by little things here and there. These New Balance sneakers for one, this Isable Marant Lecce belt and a Franca ceramic mug I just had to have. And quite a few other pieces for my closet over the years. Her style is classic, casual but somehow elevated. The ideal style vibe if you ask me.
Also, she’s currently renovating a lake house and now she’s also moved into home decor influencing. She’s a solid follow!
Happy Go Curly
Ailsa of Happy Go Curly is a dangerous person to be friends with on the internet. She is the most influential person I may know. We have similar styles, personalities and love for sneakers and Madewell. She not only influences me to shop, but has inspired me to be more confident in looks. I was hesitant about the kick-crop trend until I saw her style it. She’s also introduced me to new brands like ABLE who I am simply smitten with. Great pieces and a great cause, that’s so rare to find.
It’s Me Tinx
Not sure if I just realized we’re very similar humans, or if I’m also slowly being influenced, but Tinx is a hardcore influential follow. But not so much of things to buy, but mentally. And I say that because we already have so many similar obsessions. Love for Reformation and Diplo, cinnamon in coffee always and forever, and lover of a good walk. Oh and duh, tequila always. I may not be a big drinker, but I do love my tequila.
It’s her real talk of dating, friendship and positive attitude that are so influential. And while the internet can be full of good reasons to buy something, I more so enjoy good reasons to be happy, thankful and put yourself in situations that make you happy.
Also, her Disco Margaritas playlist is hands down the best Spotify playlist ever created.
