Every few photoshoots with my photographer Hannah, there’s always a standout outfit that I just love. It’s the outfit, the photos, the whole vibe, it just works. And don’t get me wrong, I love all the photos we take. But, there have been some bad ones and that’s on me, not her! Sometimes not all outfits seem what they are at home and then in front of the camera. I’d say in all my years of blogging there’s only been maybe half a dozen outfits that never made it to the blog or Instagram. But there’s always one every few weeks or months of shooting that I just can’t get enough of. And I’m sure you can guess which one it is because I feel like I’ve shared a photo from this look every week since August.
The Life Cycle Of Blog Photos
When I work with a photographer, I try to maximize my time as much as possible. How can I get one outfit to become not only a blog post with that outfit, but maybe a secondary blog post, and possibly another. This outfit is the perfect example of that. And it’s not always intentional, sometimes it just happens.
Take these white combat boots that I got in and was so unsure of how to style them. I browsed Pinterest and drew some inspiration. Finally landed on trying it with a slip dress and blazer. This combo is a favorite and has been worn here too with some heels. It’s a no-fail outfit in my closet and was not surprised one bit when it worked with these white Chelsea boots, too. I initially just wanted these photos for a good white boot outfit. Like here, look, I’m cool, I own white boots and this is a way to style them.
After seeing these boots in these photos I was convinced I loved them.
That’s something that oddly happens a lot with me and the blog. And vice versa too. Sometimes I think I love something and then get photos back and think “yup, that’s a hard no on that”. It happens. But these boots are a hell yeah for sure.
Since I loved these photos so much, I decided I wanted to write about them in a more meaningful way than just an outfit post. Insert this blog post on ways to style white boots for fall. This post is now an SEO powerhouse and will serve my blog in a positive way for years to come. It also allowed me to style these white boots in more ways and add them to that post for additional outfit ideas. It turned me just wanting to snap a pic of some cute white boots into a great helpful blog post. AND, a cute outfit post like today’s post! You bet I’ll be adding this look to my soon-to-come post on ways to style a blazer for fall.
And I hate to break it to you, but I’ll obviously keep sharing photos from this particular look on Instagram, too. I definitely got my 15 minutes’ worth of these photos. And that’s how sometimes wanting to snap just a cute photo of some shoes turns into content for weeks.
