I love a good pair of shorts. I have more than I care to admit. But this summer I’m aiming to add some new styles and trends to my closet. My closet is quite packed with shorts already. I’m totally set on denim shorts from cut-offs to light wash and dark wash. And I have a few of these LOFT pull on soft shorts that I truly live in. They’re insanely comfortable. This season, I’m seeing a very particular trend everywhere. And it’s the longer, tailored, relaxed short. Maybe not quite a bermuda short, but just a longer inseam. And definitely a more relaxed fit, yet tailored. Nothing too fitted, but the trouser tailoring is really perfectly relaxed and comfortable.
The Tailored Trouser Short
I discovered this trend when I found these amazing pull on shorts from, wait for it, Walmart. I know, shocked. They’re so good though. I loved the high rise with the longer inseam. It made me feel like I could really dress them up with heels and not feel like I was wearing short shorts with heels to the club like we did in the early 2010s. But it all makes sense. This past year trousers have been all the rage. So it’s no surprise that we transition into spring and summer with the shorter hemline.

How I’m Styling My Trouser Shorts
When I got these trouser style shorts I knew exactly how I wanted to style them. I had a few ideas, actually. But first up was this look with my new lilac sandals that I just can not get enough of. They’re last seen in this outfit, and inspired this blog post. Matching little tank and denim jacket to pull it together. But these shorts would be so perfect with a long blazer too. By the way, I am still on the hunt for a good lilac one to go with my lilac color obsession. Just can’t seem to find the right shade or fit and in the right fabric. I actually discovered this short and blazer set but the purple is more bright and not really lilac. But it also comes in cream and a rusty orange. A great little trouser short set, it is super cute!
