As a kid of the 80s and 90s, tie-dye was embedded in my sense of fashion. We DIY’d these at summer camp and rocked the hell out of some oversized tie-dye tees. It’s so funny to me at 33 that this trend has come back and in full swing none the less. They’re truly everywhere and in every color option you can think of. From the classic bright neons we rocked as kids, to the new stylish muted colors that feel more grown up. I’m definitely leaning more towards the latter here since I’m not really a neon kind of person.
With so many great tie-dye pieces to shop, I wanted to round up a few of my favorites below. From loungewear to tees and even dresses and Vans. There’s truly a tie-dye item out there for everyone. I’m even loving these fun knotted sandals for summer and this one piece swimsuit that’s in the perfect muted colors. There are SO many fun pieces and I’m trying hard not to scoop them all up! Plus, most of the pieces below are on sale and under $100.
How To Wear Tie Dye
When it comes to styling tie-dye, I think it’s important to keep one major thing in mind. Choose colors you already wear a lot of. I’m not a neon person but it can be tempting to try out the neon trend because it’s just everywhere. But I know after one wear, I’ll just be done with it. So since I’m into more muted and earthy tones, I’m leaning towards that bottom row here. But also a big fan of navy, so the middle row is also kind of a fun way to add a little color and tie-dye.
A lot of these items can also easily be added to your favorite jeans or jean shorts. As for loungewear, you can also easily dress these up a bit with a tee and denim jacket to wear out of the house. And if you want to wear tie-dye to the office, that little silky tie-dye camisole is great under a blazer! So many options from lounging at home to heading to a meeting.
