From the second I got into Paris, there was one trend I kept spotting. Over and over again. And every time I saw it I kept thinking to myself “oh my gosh I love this”. It’s just everywhere. Everyone at every age is wearing it. It’s a leather skirt (or shorts) with tights. It brings me back to my private school days of wearing tights in the winter with our little plaid jumpers. Something about a skirt and tights is just so cute and classic. But as we’re doing more updates to our wardrobes, this trend also has an update. Instead of opaque tights, we’re seeing lots of slightly sheer tights, and even printed ones. But they’re being paired with all the new trends right now. Think chunkier boots, oversized sweaters and blazers and so on.
Tights With Leather Skirts
This pairing feels edgy but sexy all at the same time. Yet classic with a twist. If I were to throw on a pump, this would feel so 2012 and like I was heading to the office. Instead, it’s a lot of cool chunky boots or lug sole loafers. When trying this tights and leather skirt trend, think about the shoe choice to make sure it feels fresh and new! I went with my Dr Marten’s for their more heavy and chunky look and feel to balance the more classic and feminine vibes a mini and pair of tights can give off.
Types Of Skirts To Try
It’s very clear that everyone in Paris is wearing leather. Leather pants, leather shorts, leather skirts. It’s simply everywhere. This faux leather skirt from M.M. LaFleur is a wonderful piece that feels timeless. But you can really wear anything in a tweed, plaid, wool, you name it. If it’s a fall and winter fabric, it should work. I just vote for a mini here. Leave the tights off for any midi skirts.
Best Shoes To Pair With Skirts And Tights For 2022
Toss the pump, we’re not doing it. We’re doing chunky heavier shoes to balance it all. Try a lug sole loafer, I love these, or a Dr Marten. So many good boots. These from Target are perfect and super affordable as well as these. Get the idea? Below are some great shoes to try to update this tight and skirt combo we’ve seen for years but are 100% updating for right now.
The Third Piece
To complete your look, you know where I’m going here, as usual, add a third piece. This is the piece that also helps to make this feel casual, dressed up, edgy, and so on. This addition is super important to take it from boring to interesting. Throw a chunky sweater over your shoulder like I did to add color, texture and a casual layer. I’ll also be styling this with a good oversized blazer to add a cool edgy vibe. Let’s leave the long thin cardigans in the donate pile and embrace new shapes to complete this look. If you want to try a cardigan, do a cropped one instead. You could also throw on a super long wool or trench coat to complete this look too.
