Real talk. My pants really don’t fit that great after a full year in quarantine. Which means, I’ve basically mastered wearing my sweats out of the house while still kind of looking put together. One of the things I always aim to do, is to think about how I can make something super basic and comfortable, but make it feel somewhat put together. And taking my favorite loungewear set from Lou & Grey up a notch with a sleek trench and cool sneaker is really the best way to look great while out and about in your loungewear.
Tips To Wearing Loungewear In Public

Can You Wear Loungewear In Public?
Simple. Yes.
And not just because we’re in a pandemic and loungewear is the official uniform. But once this is all over, I really do hope loungewear sticks around. There are definitely ways to wear loungewear out and not look like a total slob. And trust me, there are ways to ensure you look like you rolled out of bed and are in fact, a slob. To make sure you’re taking your loungewear out into public the right way, follow these tips.
Start With Coordinating Loungewear
Starting with a good foundation of coordinating loungewear is key to looking a little more like you intended to wear pajamas, and less like you just ran out of milk. Everything comes in coordinated sets these days. You can check out some of my favorite sweatsuit sets here.
Add A Cool Sneaker
Skip the running shoes that you’d actually wear to the gym, and instead, opt for a cool athleisure sneaker. To me, there’s something about a chunkier sneaker that works really well with athleisure. Instead of a classic Converse or my favorite Vejas, I’d go with something bulkier. I’m a big fan of the classic leather Reeboks. But also a platform Converse works, or even these Madewell trainers. They come in tons of prints and colors which is a great way to make your all-grey sweatsuit look much cooler.
Add A Layer
A style tip that is not often paired with loungewear, but it still works! A third piece, or light layer, is always a great way to pull a look together. For cooler temps, go with a trench that coordinates with your lounge set. When things start to warm up, layer on a light denim jacket, or add a long cardigan. Layers make an outfit feel complete. But keep in mind a loose ill-fitting layer, may add more bulk and make you look a tad sloppy. Try to stick with structure and clean lines when possible.
