There are always new and returning trends as the seasons change. And something I always say is to lean into the ones you like, and pass on the ones you don’t. Just because something is a trend doesn’t mean you have to partake in it. Take what you want, leave what you don’t.
Before I make any major purchases for the season I always like to do a once over of my closet. What do I have that I still love, what needs to go, and where do I need to fill in the gaps. And when I’m investing in new trends for the season, I like to ensure they’re ones that easily integrate into my closet without having to buy even more stuff to make it work.
With the upcoming fall season and all the new styles and trends to jump on, here are some of the latest fall fashion trends I’m loving. These will help you come up with some fall outfit ideas from what you already have in your closet and where you can add some fun new pieces.
10 Trending Styles For Fall
Fall trends can range from hairstyles that are trending, to nail colors to shoes, bags and more. Some of the best trends for fall always incorporate great jackets that can really make a statement. That’s usually where I like to spend my money for an update because it’s something you’ll get a lot of use out of and can top a lot of outfits with one great piece.
And one way to add some updates to your looks without breaking the beak is to lean into the best fall accessories for the season. Little swaps like bags and shoes can make a huge impact.
What Are This Falls Fashion Trends

Loose Baggy Denim
From wide leg jeans, to barrel jeans and baggy jeans, the looser the better for fall 2024. I will still be wearing my straight leg jeans a lot, but have added a few looser fits to the mix to participate in this trend. And the great thing about this is that you can pretty much use all the same styling tips for straight leg jeans with your looser denim.
More fitted tops, cropped jackets, and sleek shoes like Adidas, or ballet flats. Leave the chunky dad sneakers in the closet for these or you’ll feel really Gen Z and like you’re back in middle school. The polish of a sleeker shoe will balance the bagginess.

Leopard Print Everything
Leopard is the hot print for the season. It’s a classic print that never really went away, but it’s here with a vengeance. Try it in a cool top, jacket or pants. And as always, leopard accessories are never a bad idea and will be pieces you’ll have for years to come. Here are ways to style leopard pants for fall.

Suede Jackets
Suede seems to be having a big moment. While it’s always a favorite fabric for fall, we’re just seeing it in so many variations. But the suede jacket is going to be a great piece to add to the mix. If you’re a moto jacket person, or a blazer person, invest in a silhouette that suits your style.

Mary Janes and Ballet Flats
A ballet flat is a closet essential for many, but the Mary Jane tends to ebb and flow with popularity every few years. And right now the Mary Jane is everywhere. Try a flat version, or a heel, for an everyday shoe that’s versatile.

Chocolate Brown Anything And Everything
After doing my “colors”, I learned that black is not my best color. Unless I have a good tan, it can really wash me out. And instead, I learned that brown is really my best option. Ever since learning that it has totally transformed my closet.
I realized that brown looks so much better with all the colors I loved to wear. Reds, blues, lavenders, you name it, there’s so many colors that go with brown for fashion forward outfits. Try adding brown leather pants to your closet, or a brown suede bag which is I think, one of the best fall accessories to invest in.
Studded Bags and Belts and More
I’ll never forget a studded little black leather baguette bag I had in high school. It was my prized possession. And I am so mad I didn’t keep it. It’s the hottest thing for fall, studs! From bags, to belts, and yes even your jeans and jackets. They really make your outfits feel more interesting and edgy.

Red And Burgundy
It’s no secret that red has been a hot color. And burgundy is always a fall classic color for those rich earth tones that really lean into the vibe of the season. But we’re just seeing it EVERYWHERE. Boots, clothes, jackets, bags, you name it, you can probably find it in a stunning red or deep wine burgundy color. And I don’t know about you, but that means I’m going back to Lincoln Park After Dark immediately for my nail polish color for fall. PS, all the colors that go with red!

The Big Cuffed Jean
This is a trend I am eager to jump on. The big cuffed jean. This is not your 2014 skinny jean cuff (I’m talking something like this, no thank you). This is a big wide cuff like 4-6 inches and we’re seeing it on more looser wider leg silhouettes. It’s very intentional and very cool. I think these are great styled with a ballet flat or an Adidas Samba or Gazelle. But they’re also great with a pointed toe boot or shoe. Here’s how to wear cuffed jeans for fall a few other ways.

Vests Of All Kinds
We saw the suit-style vest have a big moment and while they aren’t going anywhere, we’re seeing an addition to this trend. And it’s the sweater vest. The crew neck oversized sort of looser fitting vest. It’s the perfect piece to wear over a button down.
The Barn Jacket
If you’ve been wondering what the update is to the fitted utility jacket, it’s the barn jacket. A classic style really, but it’s now being worn as a fashion statement with dresses and all your trendy pieces for the season. The perfect topper for an everyday look but also a cool juxtaposition to more feminine pieces.
Which of these fun fall trends will you be adding to your closet? I’m eager to add some new denim fits to my closet. Luckily I love burgundy so I have plenty of pieces already but I will be keeping my eye on maybe a great burgundy suede bag. As with all trends, pick and choose your favorites, you don’t have to participate in them all!
