One of the things I struggle with even though I am a fashion blogger, is defining my style. I’m actually working with White Oak Creative to revamp my categories on the blog and really hone in on what ‘Jessica’s’ style is. It’s a struggle because one day I like to be super casual with a touch of hipster and other days I want to be really girly. And then there’s times I’m in wide leg jeans and a ripped up tee like I belong in the 70’s in platform wedges. I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with this at all. However, it can make my closet feel a little out of sorts at times.
Since Trunk Club reached out to me to try their curated trunks I knew this was what I wanted to focus on. Pieces that easily go from one style to the next so I can maximize the use of items without feeling limited. I’ve always wanted to try one of these before and to be honest I’ve always perceived Trunk Club to be the creme de la creme. So I of course said yes, and I wasn’t wrong! If you haven’t heard of them, this is a great service for men and woman and is NOT a subscription. This way, you don’t have to feel any sort of pressure to buy. You simply just pay for the pieces you want to keep and send the rest back. Plus, shipping is free! My favorite.
The process to working with them was super easy and felt very personalized. I filled out a little survey on their site so they knew my sizes when they’d go and pull pieces for me. Then we got on a quick call to go over things I like and don’t like. Plus, we chatted about what I’m looking to achieve with my wardrobe and within the trunk that would be sent. I told her that I lack great tops and she also asked how I felt about wide leg trousers. I hadn’t really thought about this style, but figured why not!
A few days later I received an email of my trunk to review. I was able to preview the items before the items were sent out. This way, I could ensure they were pieces I knew I’d be interested in purchasing. There were a handful of things I already owned which made me feel like she understood my personal style better than I do! Plus, there was one item that I just didn’t like at all. I noted these items and reasoning so she can swap them out accordingly. Just another few days later and my trunk arrived! I couldn’t wait to tear it open to try on pieces. It’s easy to get caught up in a store with pieces and buy things you just really don’t want or need. I always realize it once I get home and try it on with my own jeans and shoes that it wasn’t really a smart buy. Personally, I loved getting to try everything on at home. I felt like I got a real feel for the items and how they’d work for me.
When I opened the box, the pieces were folded so nicely and wrapped with pretty ribbon. I quickly tore it all apart so I could begin trying it on. Instantly, I grabbed the cupcakes and cashmere faux leather burgundy jacket and was like “Yup, need this!”. The Joie ruffle top as well as the lace back sweater were two personal favorites too. It’s perfect for these early fall days. The box contained another item that I swooned over, the Vince wide leg pants. Unfortunately, they were a little big on me so I decided to send them back. What’s great is that you can always swap items out if they’re the wrong size or want a different color. I bid adieu to them but thanks to her great suggestion I now know I HAVE to have wide leg jeans. It was a fun way to try new styles I never would’ve pulled myself while shopping.
Once I picked out the pieces I loved (coming soon to the blog!) I then plopped everything back in the box, sealed it up and sent it back! It all comes with pre-paid labels making returns extremely easy and shipping is always free. I think this is a fun way to add items to your wardrobe you may not have thought of with the help of an expert. You can try this service by heading to Trunk Club to sign up today.
