One of my go-to beauty brands has been Urban Decay for years now. I have several of their lipsticks, eyeshadow palettes and more. But one thing I had been needing and wanting in my makeup drawer was a more everyday foundation that wasn’t super heavy or insane coverage. And as always, looking for a good quality foundation that suits my oily skin type and meets my needs for an everyday option. Insert the Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation that I picked up a few months ago and am loving.
Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Review
Product Details
The Urban Decay Stay Naked Liquid Weightless Foundation is a vegan foundation that is longwear and comes in so many shades. As in, this foundation comes in 50 shades. It’s lightweight but has decent coverage and helps to minimize the appearance of pores.
You can shop the foundation either directly at UrbanDecay.com, Ulta, Nordstrom or at Sephora and it retails for $39. for the 1 oz bottle. Which is quite a lot! I use barely a single pump for full application.
Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Performance
Formula And Finish
The formula of the Urban Decay Stay Naked weightless liquid foundation is well, just that. It’s a very light and weightless liquid foundation that still gives good coverage. It is slightly matte, but not TOO matte that you look dry. It’s a very natural “naked” look if you will. But not shiny at all. The formula is light
Application And Coverage
This Stay Naked Foundation goes on with decent coverage, but definitely not a heavy coverage that weighs you down. And a little goes a long way too. You can build coverage with this foundation easily. For lighter coverage, use a blending sponge to stipple it into your skin. For buildable medium coverage, you can use a blurring foundation style brush. And to achieve heavier coverage, a flat foundation brush will give you more coverage.
I find this lightweight foundation can also be easily mixed into my everyday moisturizer for a super quick tinted moisturizer. It still helps to minimize the appearance of my very big pores which is always a plus.
Longevity
As someone who is super oily, I find I’m always testing to see how long foundation can stay on my face. I always recommend a primer when possible (especially if you’re oily) and these are some of my favorites. With a primer, this lasts truly all day.
Packaging
Packaging can definitely be a reason to buy something, right? Ha! I like to think it’s not super important, but I do like the look of the bottle of this. It’s so sleek and lightweight. The pump is great and dispenses just the right amount of product.
Value
The value is definitely subjective here. But I think $39 is a good price for a foundation. It’s definitely more expensive than a drug store product but is pretty average for more mainstream brands. To me it’s a high quality product and lasts quite a while.
Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation Tips
Buildable Coverage
This product is definitely buildable in coverage. You can add a little mixed in with your moisturizer for a quick tinted moisturizer when in a rush. Or use a blending sponge for light coverage. To build more coverage, just use a more dense flat foundation brush.
Brush vs Sponge
You can use either or when applying this product, and even your fingers! for more coverage, I’d use a brush, and less coverage, a sponge.
Finding My Perfect Match
With over 50 shades to choose from, there’s definitely an option that matches your skin tone. Urban Decay has a virtual skin match try-on that can be helpful. I also like using Findation.com if I know my shade in a few brands.
Overall Opinion
I personally am loving this foundation and would definitely buy it again once I run out. The wide shade range is also great and love that it’s inclusive to skin tones. I love that it’s lightweight and breathable but lasts many hours. To me, it’s a nicer option than my NARS velvet matte foundation that doesn’t provide a ton of coverage. But I like it for when I don’t want to wear my super matte and high high coverage Fenty Foundation.
My only complaint is it doesn’t have SPF in it but that’s pretty normal for foundations versus tinted moisturizers. If shopping for this foundation, I’d also recommend grabbing the Stay Naked The Fix Foundation Powder.
