We all know that Valentine’s Day is my least favorite holiday (it’s a close tie between Halloween and NYE). But after making this cute little chocolate-dipped, heart-shaped Rice Krispie treats, I kind of don’t hate it as much. I mean, how could one hate a holiday where this is the preferred dessert?
Rice Krispie treats are always one of my favorites but I rarely ever make them. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve made them as an adult. Though I always get excited when I see them at a party or potluck and end up devouring them and ignoring anything else going on at the party. I should definitely start to make these more often because they are super easy, delicious and fun to transform easily with cookie cutters and some colored sprinkles.
To make these is SUPER easy. They’re a really fun DIY Valentine’s Day project to do with the kids too. You really just need some fun paper, toothpicks and a little glue. And don’t forget a heart shaped cookie cutter to make pretty hearts! Decorate them however you wish. Sprinkles, chocolate, glitter. You name it, you can do it!
DIY Valentine’s Day Rice Krispie Treats
What You Need
- Rice Krispies
- Marshmallows
- Butter
- Sprinkles
- Chocolate Melts
- Toothpicks
- Cardstock – I chose some fun printed red and pink paper
- Scissors
- Scotch Adhesive Glue
- Heart shaped cookie cutter
Method
Step One
Make your Rice Krispie treats according to the box. Once cooled and formed, you can cut out heart shapes with your cookie cutter.
Step Two
Create your arrows by simple cutting out a few triangle shapes like below. Glue them onto a toothpick and let them dry.
Step Three
Melt your chocolate. I usually just do this in the microwave with the melts, super easy. While this melts, get your assembly line set up. Rice Krispie treats, sprinkles and arrows.
Step Four
Create your treats! Dip a side, or the whole top, in the white chocolate, decorate with sprinkles and then add your toothpick!
