Did you know today is National Tequila Day? I did, it’s marked on my calendar actually. I probably should call out of work and pour myself a nice glass of Don Julio on the rocks and get wastey pants. But unfortunately, today is Wednesday and I have to go to work. I can’t sit at home and drink tequila by myself as much as I’d like to. Instead, I’m going to spend all day today dreaming about this stupid delicious watermelon basil margarita. STUPID delicious.
Once I get home from work, I’ll be sure to invite a few friends over and enjoy some margaritas and this delicious and healthy tex mex salad from Anna of Belly of the Feast. The perfect way to end National Tequila Day.
Ingredients
- 3-4 chunks of watermelon (about half a cup)
- 3-4 basil leaves, torn
- 1.5 oz of white tequila
- 1/2 oz of Cointreau or triple sec
- 1/2 of lemon or lime, juiced
- Ice
Method
- Add watermelon and basil to your shaker and muddle
- Add tequila, Cointreau, ice and lime juice
- Shake like crazy
- Pour over ice and enjoy
You can also add a fun rim with either sugar, salt or as Hunger Thirst Play did in the above image, a chili salt rim!
