I have always coveted a beautiful blazer dress. Simply a dress, that’s a blazer! I think they’re so sexy. Yet you can also find styles that can be worn to the office instead of a night out. This little black blazer dress from M.M.LaFleur can really do both. I’ve got a little trick to take it up a notch when it comes to this particular dress! Here are a few ways to style a blazer dress to get even more use out of this closet staple.
Ways To Style A Blazer Dress
This M.M.LaFleur blazer is definitely a bit more corporate than others that you can shop for. So the first way I would style this is in a more business casual way. But this can also be dressed up for a more corporate office with a classic leather or suede pump.
You can also add tights for the office for fall and winter. But since a blazer dress is also a great option for a little black dress for a night out with friends, you can also style it in a really cute and sexy way.
Depending on the fabric of the blazer dress you may choose, you can potentially even dress this down with a sneaker or Dr Marten combat boot for a little bit of street style edge. Here are the two ways that I plan on styling this M.M.LaFleur blazer dress.
For sizing in this particular blazer dress, I took a size 6 as I found the 4 to just be a bit too snug and short for me. The 6 just felt more comfortable. In M.M.LaFleur bottoms, I am usually a 4 in most styles including their Whitney skirt. So I’d say the dresses run just a tad smaller than the bottoms. Size up if you’re in-between.
Business Casual Blazer Dress Outfit
To style a blazer dress for a more business casual environment, just add the right shoes. A blazer dress really doesn’t lend itself to a third piece like a jacket or cardigan. They are standalone pieces that need nothing else but a great shoe.
You could do a loafer or mary jane. A ballet flat may be a little too sweet for this style of dress. I like the chunkier look of a loafer or a classic mary jane. Adding the sock is a trendy touch that also makes the look feel a bit more complete. You can even add some tights for fall and winter.

For fall and winter, you can also do an ankle bootie with a blazer dress, or a knee high boot. With any outfit, keep in mind the fabric and fit. Below are some shoes and boots you could pair with this blazer dress for any season.

Blazer Dress Styles
There are lots of blazer dress styles out there from more sexy pieces to more conservative ones that maybe are in classic plaid suiting fabrics, and have a more conservative neckline. There are ones with fun shiny fabrics in bold colors, sequins and more.
Even sleeveless more vest-style blazer dresses, and ones with sexy cutouts and necklines. But for everyday or business attire, stick to more classic fabrics, colors and prints.
Below are some of my favorite blazer dresses to shop from a night out in Vegas, to a corporate meeting at the office.
Date Night Blazer Dress Outfit
To take this blazer dress from day to night, all you need are a few swaps. I’ve swapped out my chunky loafer for a sexy high heel. And to make things more interesting, a polka dot sheer tight. Which is kind of amazing. I love a super sheer tight, it feels super sexy.
And since this dress felt a little too buttoned up for a night out, I undid the last button on the dress so it created a bit of a slit. I loved that this added something to the more conservative neckline so it balanced it all out.

When dressing up a blazer dress for a night out, it’s all about the accessories. This piece can feel a bit corporate if it’s a basic color and silhouette. So adding special accessories that feel more sexy and fun helps to update the piece so it feels cohesive for the evening.
Instead of a leather tote bag, try a fun clutch that’s sparkly or feathery. And definitely add some jewelry like a big hoop or sparkly earrings. You can also add a bit of edge to this with a chunky gold chain necklace.
