It’s all about the matching sets these days. But one option I’m loving, are they suit short sets. I’ve stocked up on matching sets for spring and summer. And I am just now adding the perfect short suit set to my closet from Sezane. And here are a few ways to style this trend.
Ways To Style A Short Suit Set
What Is A Short Suit Set?
A short suit set is a suit that’s shorts and not pants. Obviously, these are not really office appropriate and are more of a fashion statement right now. You can wear the two coordinating pieces together, or as separates.
What Do You Wear With A Short Suit
I think there are two schools of thought here. Either you dress up your short suit, or you dress it down. This allows the set to be worn for day time and also for the evening or an event. Depending on the fabric and color, you can wear it on vacation with woven sandals and a straw bag. Or you can wear it while exploring a new city in comfy high-top sneakers and a cotton tee.
Dressing Down A Short Suit Set
Instantly dress down a short suit set with cool sneakers. I love a high top Converse to balance out the more 9-5 vibe. You can also do a dad sneaker or Adidas Sambas for something more trendy and Gen Z approved. I think the juxtaposition of a sneaker with a “suit” if you will is the perfect combination.
Another great option is flat sandal or a slide. I would totally rock this set with an easy leather slide, or low heel sandal. Something simple and casual is perfect.

And for your top options, simple cotton tees and tanks are the way to go. A graphic tee would be great too. It balances out the more put-together feel of a suit with a cool edgy graphic tee. That’s how I also plan to style this striped Sezane set in the future.
Dressing Up A Short Suit Set
I’d pair a short suit with a pump or platform high heel. You can even do a block sandal and even a knee-high boot for that in-between spring or fall weather. Just be cautious with the boot option. I feel like a super short short can look a little risque with a knee high boot. Just use your best judgment. I’m usually team show off your legs!
For your top, think about the types of tops you’d wear with a regular suit. And also what you’d maybe wear out with friends that feels a little dressier. While you don’t need to go all corporate America with your top (since we are not wearing shorts to the office), you can still do something more classic. Maybe try a simple silky top, or blouse, or even a nicer drapey cotton tee.
