I realized a bit of trend happening in my own closet over the last few years. And it’s my obsession with the color lilac. Lavender, lilac, whatever you want to call this beautiful color, this pastel color has a feminine vibe to it but isn’t over the top. And as someone who would not really self-identify as a super feminine dresser, this color incorporates into my closet so well with the right pieces and color combinations.
Over the years, the items in my closet in lavender and lilac have become my most loved items. And if you’re a fan of the color, or want to create more interesting outfits with fresh colors, here’s a roundup of colors that you can pair with lavender.
What Colors Go With Lavender
Lavendar can have either a cool or warm undertone. And you can find varying shades of lavender from really light and soft lilac, to more saturated and deep lavender hues. The range and variety of options make it a really versatile color and one that anyone can wear.

Lavender With Tans And Beiges
I think we can safely say that just about every color is going to work with tans and beiges. And some colors I just love more than others with such a neutral base. But as a huge fan of lavender, this is one of my go-to pairings to add to neutral colors. From summer to fall, it just works! Add in deeper chocolate brown accessories to pull the looks together as the darker shades of brown can ground an outfit.

Lavender With Chocolate Brown
It’s probably one of my favorite combinations, lavender with chocolate brown. As soon as I started wearing more brown in my closet (which is a go-to for me in the fall and winter), I realized how much I loved to pair lavender with it. Since I have so much brown from jackets to leather pants, and blazers, it is easy to just pair it with my lavender Sezane bag.

Lavender With Medium Blues And Denim
Pastel lilac and medium soft blues are a great combination. Try just adding lilac or lavender with indigo blue jeans for a simple combination. The pale shade of the lavender and blues works really well together.
Lavender With White
This combination works for spring and summer, but also in the fall and winter. For the warmer months, there really is nothing better than a little white dress. Add in lilac accessories, or a little lilac denim jacket.
For the cooler months, swap your white summery pieces for off-white ecru jeans or cozy white knits. Try a lavender wool coat, or cozy sweater paired with ecru jeans.
Lavender With Butter Yellow
Butter yellow is such a gorgeous color and it works so nicely with lavender. Try a butter yellow top or dress with a lavender blazer. Use lavender as an accessory to your butter yellow tops or dresses by adding a lavender purse to your look.

Lavender With Hunter Greens
For fall and winter, hunter green is such a staple earth tone color to wear. And yes, it works so well with lavender. It’s a beautiful contrast and creates a really interesting color in your outfit. This can be done with a hunter green trouser and lilac sweater. Plus, other shades of darker green can work like a khaki or olive green.

Lavender With Minty Greens
The color palette of pastels always works in my book. The more muted the better too. I loved pairing these minty green pastel trousers with a lavender tank. The softness of each color worked well together. Pairing lavender with green is also a classic complementary color trick when you need to figure out what colors to pair together. By going across the color wheel, you’ll find complementary colors for lavender.
Lavender With Purple
A tonal outfit is an easy way to pull a look together if you aren’t sure what colors go with it. Pair your light lavender pieces with more deep hued jewel tones. The lavender and purple combination will make for a bold statement. Find a shade of purple that has similar undertones and the shade of lavender you choose so things feel cohesive.

Lavender With Burgundy
A bit of a unique pairing, but one I really love for fall and winter. Burgundy can have undertones of brown or purple and this makes it a perfect complement to lavender. As a favorite color for fall and winter, you can easily pair your burgundy suede skirt or jacket, with a lavender sweater or bag.
I also love wearing lavender and burgundy accessories. I have a few lavender and burgundy accessories and I love to mix and match them. Pair them with a neutral base to let these two colors stand out. It adds a touch of something to an otherwise neutral and simple outfit.
Lavender With Black
The contrast of the soft lavender color against black is a great way to wear this color. Try a chunky lavender sweater with black leather pants. Or a lilac dress with black accessories. Because lavender is such a light shade, you do want to make sure you are mixing
Lilac And Red
While this may seem like a bold take, I think it’s a bold combination that is really fun. Use the red as a base color and add pops of lavender. Or vice versa. But red and lavender really do pair so well together. Try a red sweater with jeans and a lavender bag so it’s kind of like an accent color to the whole look. Lilac is definitely one of those colors that go with red.
So whether you want to try adding a pop of color to your look with lavender, or you want to go head to toe in it, these are some fun color combinations you can try. As someone who owns lavender heels and a lavender bag, I have found new ways to incorporate these into my closet. Depending on the shade of lavender, it can be such a soft muted tone that you can wear it with so much with ease. Or have more fun with brighter hues and combinations.
