Fall is always my favorite season to shop for. I love all the boots, the textures, and the colors. It’s a back to school shopping mentality no matter how far away I am from being a student anymore. But fall is around the corner, and this is what I’m buying (and eyeing) for fall 2023.
What I’m Buying For Fall 2023
While there are a few things I am eyeing for fall, I am trying to rewear lots of old favorites. Like my go-to lug sole loafers, all my favorite jeans, and lots of blazers. But these are a few fun items I’m looking to add to the mix.
Wide Leg Denim
While I have always loved flared denim and bell bottoms, we are seeing a more palazzo style denim for fall. And I am all for it. I’ll be wearing these from Sezane well into fall and winter. And also picked up these from Good American.
Style your wide leg denim with chunky clogs, boots or most heels honestly. If you want to go with a flat shoe you totally can. Just hem your jeans so they kiss the ground. And you can wear all your favorite sneakers with them and the popular mary jane and ballet flat trend.
New Sneakers
I’m learning that I love to be in a sneaker. So I don’t know why I keep buying heels. My dad sneakers have seen better days and I’d love some sneakers that feel more fashion forward too.
I have officially added two New Balances to the mix. The New Balance 550 in a cream and tan combination. And these blush and grey New Balance 9060s. They almost have a shearling look to them and I think they’ll be a great dad sneaker option for fall.
And while my go-to dad sneakers that are my walking shoe and workout shoe have seen better days, I may replace them with these and just let them be my shoes that get dirty!
Fall Boots
Swapping the cut out ankle booties for sock booties has been a slow transition for me. I am still finding my groove with the best boots but think these and these are going to be good options.
I also got the Marc Fisher knee high boots from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year and they are truly a classic! These will be in my closet for years to come.

Something Red!
We are seeing red everywhere from sweaters, to dresses, bags and shoes, red is THE color for fall. I find this color to be tricky on me once I start to lose my tan. But I am excited to have this pretty M.M.LaFleur sweater in my closet to try.
If cherry red is too bright for you, totally try a burgundy. I love a burgundy suede or patent leather shoe or bag for fall. It’s a great option that feels fresh and different than all the typical black and brown we see.
Silver Accessories
As someone who wears gold all the time, it does seem a little crazy to say this one. But yes, silver accessories are HOT. So many great silver shoes to shop. From chunky loafers, to cool ankle boots and these slingback pumps that I just got.
I think you’d be surprised how versatile this is. Pair with jeans a red sweater and a brown bag. It’s just a really fun neutral, I promise!
Other Fun Things I’m Adding To My Closet
I’m considering the Birkenstock Boston clog as well for fall. I think it can be a cool and casual way to try the clog trend. I love a clog, clearly, so it’s no surprise I’ll want to add this style to the mix.
Trousers are still having a moment and these from Madewell have become my most loved pair of pants. So comfortable. And I am replacing a pair of very uncomfortable navy patent loafers with these from Franco Sarto.
I also plan on styling the waistcoast in early fall as a great tailored piece. And I may just pair it with a slip maxi skirt like this one.
Fall is always a fun season to switch up your style and try new things. While I will be adding some newness to my closet, I am definitely going to be pulling lots of pieces from my closet that I loved from past seasons. What are you shopping for this fall?
