I feel like I have gone off the deep end when it comes to fall shopping. Between needing to update my Millennial wardrobe, to the general excitement of the best season of fashion, the shopping is out of control. I’m buying ALL the things and trying all new styles and silhouettes. It’s getting me really excited for the upcoming season. And has me convinced I’ll get dressed way more frequently too. Here’s a look at what I’m buying for fall 2022.
What I’m Buying For Fall 2022
Chunky Sole Loafers
Also known as lug sole loafers, these are back again this fall with a vengeance. I tried a pair last year and had to return them because they were too chunky and stiff. And while I have these navy patent ones from years ago that are still on trend, they are so insanely painful. They are not a walking shoe. So I was determined to find something not too chunky, not too slim looking, and had to be comfortable. Shockingly, I went with the Coach loafer in black leather and I am so obsessed with them.
Wider Straight Leg Jeans
Straight leg jeans have been in style for a few years now. And while I have a few pairs like these and these, I wanted something a little wider. A more relaxed fit maybe? I went to Madewell and ended up with the Perfect Vintage Wide Leg Crop jean and they are fantastic. I went with my bigger size so they were even looser. I’ll have to take them in at the waist once they stretch out (which they always do) but it’s a $12 fix that’s totally worth it.
If you’re struggling to find straight leg jeans, try a wider leg, a barrel fit or even a baggy fit. I know that sounds insane and looks ridiculous on a model. But for us gals with thighs and a butt, they actually fit more like a loose straight. Don’t be afraid of style names, try it all out.
PS all the shoes to pair with straight leg jeans so you can master this necessary jean update!
Trousers, Duh
This trend is here to stay it seems. And you can dress these up, or wear them with sneakers and a graphic tee. They’re super comfortable too. I always found my work pants to be so comfy when I had a corporate job, so I’m kind of excited about welcoming this trend into my everyday fashion picks.
I have a few pairs from Aritzia, but I did just grab two pairs at H&M and they’re pretty good for the price. And yes, dad sneakers are a must, I just got these and love them.
Leather Pants
I may have bought more than I care to admit. But I’m finding that they’re way more versatile than I thought initially. When I first grabbed a few pairs of this trend, I thought I had to only dress them up. Wrong. I styled a pair with sneakers and a graphic tee and they are such a good pairing.
I’ll be living in these for fall and they are again, way more comfortable than denim. You can see more outfit ideas with faux leather pants here to get inspired.
Sweater Shells And Vests
I saw this pin on Pinterest and instantly had to recreate it. And recreate I did. Sweater shells and vests are having a major moment and they are great to pair with your straight leg denim. I’m not a big chunky sweater person, so this thinner one from Sanctuary is perfect for me. I can also wear it well into the warm fall months here in the South.
Western Booties
Personally shocked I’m into this trend because I’ve always hated a cowboy boot. But of course, trends come and go and this one is here and I’m loving how people are styling it. Larroude was kind enough to send me these gorgeous knee-high western-inspired boots.
I’ll be wearing them with all the dresses for fall. Reminder, buy more fall dresses. Always the most needed item in my closet and I always do a terrible job of shopping for them. This year will be different!
Other Items I’ve Added To My Closet For Fall
There are a few other things I’m excited about for my fall closet. And honestly, this is probably the most shopping I’ve ever done in a short amount of time. I think this is actually an effective strategy as I feel like I’m heading into fall with everything I need and may do less shopping trying to put outfits together throughout the season. We’ll see how that goes. But below are a few other items and trends I added to my closet.
