There is something so exciting and refreshing to shop for spring clothes. It’s the transition from winter to warm weather. And the fact that we’re swapping out heavy fabrics, for light linens, cotton and eyelet. Swapping our dark-colored jeans, sweaters and jackets, for pops of color, prints and lighter fabrics. It feels so wildly different that it makes for an exciting time to shop. I’ve been browsing a lot lately and doing some new spring buys that I want to share with you. Here’s what I’m buying (and eyeing) for spring 2023.
What I’m Buying For Spring 2023
A few trends I’m really excited about for spring, are once again sets and lilac. Since I branched into the lilac hue last year, I’m going to go a bit farther this year and try MORE color. Can’t even believe it. But I am. You’ll see tha tin some of the pieces I’ve already snagged and ones I’ve got my eye on too. I’m trying to be more practical with my closet. In all honesty, I tend to find myself buying things “because the blog”. It’s a terribly awful habit. I end up purchasing nicer more going out things because it feels more fun to wear it for the blog and I know I’ll eventually wear it at some point. No more of that over here.
I’m aiming for everyday pieces that I can wear to grab lunch, sit at a coffee shop and work, and be my normal casual self. I’ll sprinkle in some fun, but nothing a simple pair of heels can do for most looks in my opinion.
Matching Sets For Spring
The first thing I’m eyeing are more matching sets. I grabbed a set from DISSH last year and I lived in it. This year, I’m going to be living in this Madewell lilac set. It comes in a few colors. Abercrombie & Fitch has a set that I picked up in a fun color. I’d recommend sizing up in the A&F set at least one size to get a looser fit. Maybe even two sizes if you’re in-between. I also tried this Amazon set and kinda love it.
The reason why I love these matching sets is that you can get so many outfits out of them. Buy one set this spring and you can wear it together. Or wear the button down with your favorite denim cut-offs. And wear the shorts with a linen crop top or cotton tank and a big oversized denim jacket. You’ll wear them as separates, or together, a lot. I promise!
And one more elevated and nicer set I grabbed for spring, is this Sezane short and blazer set. It is definitely something that’s a bit dressier. However, I think can be dressed down with a tee and Chucks or a casual sandal. I’ll also wear them as separates and get lots of use out of this amazing blazer. I sized up to an 8 in both blazer and shorts. Think outside the button down and pull on short matching set. You can totally do a blazer and pair of shorts, or fun top with skirt. Matching sets come in all sorts of styles!
Spring Shoes I’m Eyeing
Something I have noticed about my buying habits is that I will randomly splurge on one pair of shoes each season and then I cling to it. In a good way. I tend to cap my shoe budget at $200 and this usually means I just buy several less expensive shoes and don’t wear them as often. Last summer I splurged on two pairs of shoes personally (yes I do get some shoes gifted, but these were ones I really loved, thought about, and wanted to splurge on). They were my Tory Burch flatform sandals that I truly LIVED in. Already reaching for them now with the warmer weather here in Atlanta. Also, another favorite was my See by Chloe platform sandals.
I feel like all I need is a good flat everyday sandal (really want these but they are sold out already!), and my Converse, and I’ve got the perfect shoe collection. Sometimes investing in one or two nicer things and not spending a bunch on a lot of less expensive items, is the way to go. Quality over quantity! Other shoes in my closet I’m still planning to wear years later are my Castaner espadrilles. Classic, beautiful, and goes with so much. And I also picked up these bow heels from Schutz for a low heel sandal to dress up outfits with.
Spring Clothes I’m Eyeing
I am going for COLOR this year. I’m branching out and trying pinks and limes and blues. I feel like lime or citron or chartreuse are all having a big moment for spring. Whatever shade you choose, I think it’s a solid choice to try. I’m also always one who loves a great dress for summer. They’re effortless and easy to style. And the Atlanta heat is just more tolerable in a loose breathable fabric.
A few basics from last year that I’m still wearing are my Banana Republic ribbed tanks. They are SO good. My lilac linen blazer is going to be a great piece to add over shorts. And for spring, it’s all about white denim and light wash denim. I’ll be getting even more use out of my favorite white denim like these wide leg ones and these straight leg ones.
Light Spring Layers & Jackets
And as for light spring layers, I’m going to be reaching for cropped denim jackets, and my beloved oversized one. Also, you can’t go wrong with a great camel trench coat. They are the perfect light jacket for spring. I also added this cream linen blazer to the mix and already getting some use out of it.
A huge trend we’re seeing for spring 2023 is the lady jackets. They’re a very sweet, more preppy style jacket that is slightly cropped. Seeing a lot of them in pretty textured tweeds and woven fabrics. But also in leather, denim and cotton. There’s really something for every personal style trend. They’re truly a nice change of pace to all the denim jackets and blazers. Plus, anything cropped is definitely in!
Spring Accessories
One of my absolute favorite things about spring are the accessories. The bags, the shoes, the hats. The rattan and woven fabrics, it’s just so fun and exciting. And it always updates a look in a pinch. I’m going to be wearing my Bembien bag this spring but am so tempted to upgrade it to this version. I also picked up a fun green acrylic bag to style with neutrals.
Speaking of rattan, this hat is calling my name. But since I only wear hats on vacation, I think I may pass on it. You can’t go wrong with a classic straw hat though. A wide brim fedora is my preferred style. Or a boater hat for summer is great.
Lastly, this bag also reminds me of the J.Crew one in today’s photos. I wore that bag to death last summer. It’s old, but this Mango one is very similar and a great price point. And for sunglasses, Im always reaching for my Karen Walker’s. But lately, I’ve been into the more small cat eye trend and have included a few favorites below.
