The right layering pieces during the winter are key for staying warm. And while there are tons of great trendy outerwear to choose from, one item that is totally classic and super easy to style, is a blazer coat. I brought this camel blazer coat on my trip to NYC this past winter and it was a solid layering item. It went with so many outfits from casual looks for shopping in Soho, to heading to dinner and a show in a dressier look. Today I’m dedicating this post to all things blazer coats. From my favorite blazer coats to shop right now and a few easy ways to style them from casual and cool, to dressing it up for business casual looks and more.
What Is A Blazer Coat?
Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like when you think of the term “blazer” and “coat”, just combine them! It’s a coat in traditional coat materials like wool, wool-blends and so on, in a classic blazer silhouette that are lined for extra warmth. That same beloved shape that we love in suit jackets but in your new favorite coat. It’s a classic shape that’s super versatile, too. And when you add in the heavier material of a true coat, it becomes a whole new piece that you’ll love to wear in the fall and winter.
Shop Blazer Coats
There are so many great options for blazer coats. From double-breasted ones to traditional one or two-button blazer coats. Choose from classic colors like solid camel, black or grey. Or give a print a try like plaid or something more fun and bold. Below are some of my favorite blazer coats to try. The one I am wearing is from Abercrombie & Fitch and comes in a few colors and prints. With all A&F outerwear, I’m usually in a small. Blazer Coat Outfit Ideas
Blazer Coat With A Casual Look In A Hoodie And Faux Leather Leggings
A blazer coat to me is just like any other blazer in my closet when it comes to styling this piece. But its added weight makes it great for fall and winter layering. I love to pair a coat blazer with my go-to faux leather leggings (SPANX or Commando of course) and Dr Martens. It’s a super easy, casual and put-together outfit that’s easy to throw on and go in. Great for heading out to dinner with friends, lunch or errands, whatever. It’s easy and effortless. For extra warmth for winter, I like pairing this with a cute hoodie. My Anine Bing one is great to make this feel like a cool street style look perfect for a chilly day in Brooklyn.
Blazer Coat With A Dressed Up Look In Black Jeans And Heels
Another way to style a blazer coat is for a more business casual look. Just like you would wear a suit or wear a blazer to the office, a meeting, or even just as a way to dress up your everyday look, a blazer coat can be a great option. This way you can utilize the blazer coat as if you were wearing a blazer and a suit but you then can take the coat off and you have a business casual outfit ready to go.
Menswear Blazer Coat With A Mini Dress
I’m all for a blazer over a mini dress. I think they are a perfect pairing. For winter, try a sweater dress paired with a blazer coat and boots for a sexy date night outfit. I love this menswear blazer coat that’s a bit oversized paired with a body-hugging sweater dress. For warmer winter days, show some skin. But when it’s chilly out, this would be super cute with a printed tight. And don’t forget my favorite winter style tip to stay warm, fleece lined tights!
A Blazer Coat With A Tweed Mini And Dr Martens
This look is giving me early 2000s almost 1999 vibes. I love a good mini skirt moment. And pairing it with a blazer coat is the perfect way to embrace a warm winter day. We get a lot of those here in Atlanta so this is a look I love to wear. If it’s cooler out, just add tights. The chunky Dr Martens add a bit of edge to these more feminine and tailored pieces.
