If you checked out my South of France post here, you’ll see we did a quick visit to Cassis one day. It was not in the plans initially, but we really wanted to see a quaint town on the water. We had expected Nice to be this, but Nice is a MAJOR city. Truly I yearned for a small city perched on the hill overlooking the water and Cassis was it. It wasn’t much of a detour when we left Nice to head to our next stop for the trip in Provence. We left nice and early and headed along the coast to find this cute little town. When getting ready that morning, my girlfriends did the usual, what are you wearing, dialogue. I decided I’d go with this outfit for several reasons and it was the most genius thing ever. And it ended up becoming a must when thinking of what to pack for warm weather getaways from here on out.
Here’s what I did.
I knew we’d probably be near, on or in the water. We really wanted to spend a few hours on a boat (it’s my favorite place to be really) or at least lay by the water. So instead of packing a swimsuit and having to deal with finding a place to change which can be hard in small towns, I decided to just wear my one piece. It acted as a bodysuit during the day while exploring. I could take off my linen button down when it got warm, and still be dressed perfectly. Luckily, we ended up finding a boat tour that was short enough for our busy day. I was ready to go without any hesitation. Hopped on the boat, took my top and shorts off and I was ready for a dip in the Mediterranean.
Afterward, my linen shirt worked as a great cover up while making our way back to the town. Since it was quite hot out, by the time we made it back, my bum was pretty dry and didn’t soak through my shorts. If you’re worried about this, maybe pack a sarong to have handy too, or a change of panties. But that also then requires a bra and defeats the purpose of this effortless outfit that allows you to be ready for anything.
The One Thing I Always Pack For A Warm Weather Trip
When thinking about what to pack for warm weather getaways, I will 100% always pack a black one-piece swimsuit. It can work as a bodysuit when you’re in a pinch for an extra outfit. Pair it with just jeans and heels and you’ve got a fun outfit for a night out. And is great to have on hand for impromptu dips in the ocean! The one I have is just from Aerie. It’s super affordable and flattering. I’ve rounded up a few below as they’re on super sale right now and are a must for packing for a warm-weather getaway. I may be adding a few more to my swim collection for my upcoming trip to Mykonos!
Below are a few great one piece swimsuits to shop. You don’t have to do a black one, I just find that this is most versatile. But really any solid color simple one piece swimsuit will do. Or even a good stripe! Stripes paired with denim is always a great idea especially on a warm weather vacation.
