Parisian style is very classic. It’s simple, it’s timeless, and they do it so well. People also aren’t very dressed up here. Not a whole lot of fuss happening. I don’t think I’ve even seen a true stiletto here yet. It’s simple, elevated, and classic. Beautiful, really. For my trip this fall to Paris I knew I wanted to throw one more thing into my suitcase before zipping it up. And that was a good slip midi dress.
What To Wear To Dinner In Paris
Let’s be honest, for the most part, I’m wearing whatever I wore during the day for dinner. I’ve been basically going from day to night in the same outfit. Which is fine for me. A total 180 from what I do at home where I put on 3 outfits during the day because I come home in between each outing. But I have had a few dinner plans while here and wanted to dress up just a bit. And that’s where this slip midi dress is getting all the use!
I wanted something easy and effortless I could easily throw on and feel amazing in. I could wear it to a nice dinner if I needed to. Hey, maybe a date. And if I was wanting to have a little change of pace with all my denim, I could dress it down with sneakers easily if I really wanted to. And now that it’s starting to get cooler, I could also layer it with a turtleneck and even tights with boots.
J.Crew Midi Slip Dress
There’s something about a slip dress, short, midi or even long, that just feels so effortless and sexy. I have had this short one for years but honestly found myself not reaching for it much. The fabric wasn’t great, but it was a great item to have. Right before my trip, I panic-purchased this J.Crew slip dress in both the midi and the mini. I bought them both to try. I was not expecting to keep both, but I was so impressed with the fabric I had to keep each length for options! And for this trip, the midi came along with me. It’s the perfect length for fall too. I went with a size 4 for the midi, but a size 6 for the shorter version. Not sure why, but that’s just the sizes that felt best on my body. The straps are also adjustable which is great.
If you’re visiting Paris, this really is the perfect going-out look for dinner or drinks on the town. It feels very Parisian in that it’s classic and effortless with a touch of sexiness. It’s not too fussy and it’s really comfortable too. Swap the shoes for a bootie if you’re coming in the fall. And you can easily add different jackets and sweaters over it to switch it up.
