I don’t know what happened. But I found myself owning not one, but two pairs of suede pants as of late. I’m all for faux leather pants. Sign up me! They’ve become my favorite pants in my closet. So chic, easy to dress up or down. I love them so much.
So it’s really no surprise that I would find myself being the very proud owner of suede pants. And of course, you know I had to get a pair in the perfect shade of blue.
Would You Wear Suede Pants?
Fun fact about me. I will never forget owning a pair of red suede bootcut pants in middle school. I have always loved fashion and clearly had a thing for amazing suede pants. I want to say I had another color but I can’t for the life of me remember. And there is sadly no photo evidence that I can seem to find thanks to film cameras being our only option in the 1990s.
But I remember vividly having a pair of red suede pants that I’m sure my mom helped me pick up during a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I remember styling it with this really cool black tee that had a silver graphic embellishment (it was way cooler than it sounds trust me). I rocked the shit out of these pants in middle school and I wish I still had them for proof.
I don’t know why now all of a sudden, suede pants to me felt like an over-the-top piece to wear. Clearly, if I was wearing them to class in middle school on a Tuesday, there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be wearing them now. So it’s time to dive back into the suede pant trend.
Don’t Overthink Suede Pants
I think these are another one of those fashion pieces or trends we tend to overthink. You can get inspired with all the same outfits I have styled with my faux leather pants here. And yes, a post on how-to style suede pants is coming soon once I style these and my other pair a few more times!
But don’t overthink suede pants! They are no different than the other jeans and pants in your closet. Dress them up with heels and a nice top and blazer. Or dress them down simply with a cozy sweater and sneakers.
And when it comes to deciding on a color, you can totally go classic in black or a nice brown. But why not try a color? I love this soft blue, it feels like denim to me so it is very neutral in my eyes. And if you’re into color, go for it! Below are some of my favorites to shop right now. The ones I’m wearing in today’s post are old from Sezane but these are a new release from them that I’m loving.
